**Position Summary

**

Reporting directly to the Owner/Founder, the Maintenance Manager takes full ownership of the company’s physical assets, facilities, and machinery. This critical leadership role drives the maintenance, development, expansion, and long-term sustenance of our plastic recycling and compounding operations.

The ideal candidate will develop and execute comprehensive maintenance procedures, carry out rigorous facility inspections, and swiftly resolve technical challenges to protect employee safety and eliminate operational disruptions. You will ensure that all machinery—specifically extrusion and compounding systems—runs at peak efficiency and maximum output through robust predictive and preventive maintenance programs, effective breakdown management (mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic), and strategic vendor management.

**Key Job Duties & Responsibilities

**

• Team Leadership: Supervise, train, mentor, and evaluate all maintenance staff; foster a culture of accountability and positive team attitude.

• Maintenance Operations: Plan, schedule, and manage all repair, installation, and calibration activities for mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic equipment.

• Predictive/Preventive Maintenance (PPM): Lead the implementation and optimization of proactive maintenance strategies utilizing the MaintainX program.

• Vendor & Subcontractor Management: Hire and oversee specialized external contractors, evaluating repair cost estimates and ensuring project quality.

• Compliance & Safety: Maintain, enforce, and audit departmental safety programs; conduct proactive risk assessments; ensure all workflows meet industry regulations and OSHA standards.

• Policy & Documentation: Develop Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and company policies for all maintenance tasks; maintain precise technical documentation.

• Financial Accountability: Oversee the departmental budget, track maintenance expenses, manage equipment stock, and source new supplies efficiently.

• Asset Lifecycle Management: Manage the decommissioning and lawful, safe disposal of obsolete machinery and plant equipment.

• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with the Manufacturing team to meet KPIs (utilization, efficiency, scrap reduction); participate in Production and Safety meetings.

• Strategic & Quality Governance: Contribute to annual budgeting and strategic planning; actively participate in the CT Polymers Quality Planning effort and Quality Improvement Steering Committee.

• Reporting: Track performance data and communicate operations, metrics, and project statuses to Senior Management through comprehensive monthly reports.

**Job Requirements & Qualifications

**

• Experience: Minimum of 10 years of manufacturing experience, ideally within the Engineering Plastics Industry (recycling/compounding) and working within an ISO 9001 environment.

• Leadership Background: Proven track record in a supervisory or managerial maintenance role, handling budgets, scheduling, and strategic reporting.

• Technical Mastery: Direct, practical knowledge of Extrusion methodologies. Deep understanding of complex mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic manufacturing systems.

• Software Proficiency: Minimum 5 years of direct work experience with manufacturing systems and software; specific experience with MaintainX (or equivalent advanced CMMS) is required. Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office.

• Education: A relevant degree in Manufacturing, Engineering, or a Millwright license/credential is highly preferred.

• Soft Skills: Strong negotiation, conflict resolution, presentation, and interpersonal skills; highly motivated, detail-oriented, and capable of multi-tasking under pressure.

• Safety & Attendance: Excellent attendance history and a demonstrably clean safety record.

• Business Acumen: High mathematical ability; capable of managing confidentiality, maintaining high integrity, and handling complex technical documentation.

**Working Conditions

**

• Active manufacturing plant environment with exposure to industrial equipment.

• Manual dexterity required to operate a desktop computer and technical peripherals.

• Overtime required as needed to address critical equipment breakdowns or operational demands.

• Occasional travel may be required for vendor visits, training, or equipment procurement.
