Manhattan American is looking for a hands-on Maintenance Machinist / Mechanical Maintenance Technician to support our manufacturing operation by keeping machinery, tooling, and production equipment running safely and efficiently.

This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys working with machines, solving mechanical problems, machining parts, and making equipment work better.

If you have experience with lathes, milling machines, surface grinders, machine repair, or tooling, your skills could be a strong fit for this role.

What You'll Do

  • Perform preventive maintenance and mechanical repairs on manufacturing equipment.
  • Troubleshoot machinery and identify the cause of mechanical problems.
  • Operate lathes, milling machines, and surface grinders as needed.
  • Make, repair, modify, and sharpen tooling and machine components.
  • Repair and maintain precision dies and associated tooling when needed.
  • Clean, lubricate, adjust, and service machinery.
  • Replace worn or damaged machine components.
  • Measure parts accurately and make necessary calculations to ensure proper fit and function.
  • Assist with machine modifications and production equipment improvements.
  • Test machinery after repairs or modifications and make adjustments as needed.
  • Work with management and production personnel to schedule preventive maintenance and address equipment issues.
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance and repair work.
  • Keep the machine shop, tools, parts, and supplies organized.
  • Follow safety procedures and help maintain a safe manufacturing environment.

We're looking for someone who is mechanically minded, hands-on, and comfortable figuring out how things work—and how to fix them.

You'll bring:

  • Experience in machine maintenance, mechanical repair, machining, or a related manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to operate or work with lathes, milling machines, and/or surface grinders.
  • Strong mechanical troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to take precise measurements and perform basic calculations.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently while communicating effectively with production and management.
  • Ability to prioritize repairs based on production needs.

Experience That Could Make You a Great Fit

Experience making, repairing, or sharpening precision dies and tooling is a plus—but not required.

Education & Experience

  • Vocational/technical training in machining, maintenance, mechanics, or a related field OR equivalent hands-on experience.
  • Previous manufacturing, machine shop, mechanical maintenance, or machine repair experience preferred.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
  • Ability to bend, stretch, push, pull, reach, and work around machinery.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to safely perform hands-on maintenance and repair work in a manufacturing environment.
