Maintenance Facilities Technician

Location: Travis Air Force Base, California

Job Description

We are seeking a dependable and experienced Maintenance Facilities Technician to perform general maintenance, repairs, and preventive maintenance throughout facilities at Travis Air Force Base. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience maintaining buildings, equipment, and facility systems while ensuring a safe, clean, and functional work environment.

Job Responsibilities

• Perform routine and preventive maintenance on buildings, facilities, and equipment.

• Inspect facilities to identify maintenance issues, damage, and potential safety hazards.

• Perform basic plumbing, electrical, carpentry, painting, and general repair work within the scope of training and authorization.

• Repair doors, locks, fixtures, walls, floors, and other facility components.

• Assist with HVAC maintenance and troubleshoot basic facility system issues as qualified.

• Maintain tools, equipment, and maintenance supplies.

• Respond to maintenance requests and complete work orders in a timely manner.

• Follow all safety procedures, facility regulations, and applicable base access requirements.

• Keep work areas clean, organized, and free of hazards.

• Document completed repairs, inspections, and maintenance activities.

• Work independently or alongside other maintenance personnel to support facility operations.

Qualifications and Requirements

• Previous experience in facilities maintenance, building maintenance, or a related field preferred.

• Knowledge of basic maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting techniques.

• Ability to use common hand tools, power tools, and maintenance equipment safely.

• Ability to follow written instructions, work orders, and safety procedures.

• Strong problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills.

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

• Must be able to meet applicable Travis Air Force Base access, identification, and background screening requirements.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, climb, and reach throughout the workday.

• Ability to lift and carry tools, supplies, and equipment as required.

• Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.

• Ability to safely use ladders and maintenance equipment when needed.

Work Environment

Work is performed in and around buildings and facilities at Travis Air Force Base. The position may involve exposure to noise, dust, varying temperatures, and active maintenance areas. All work must be completed in accordance with applicable safety standards and base requirements.
