Title: Maintenance Excellence Manager
Location: Freeport, TX

Salary: $150,000 - 204,000
Schedule: 9/80; 4-10's
 

Focus: The Maintenance Excellence Manager is responsible for developing and executing the site's maintenance excellence strategy to improve reliability, asset performance, cost competitiveness, work execution, and organizational effectiveness across routine maintenance, turnarounds, and capital maintenance activities. This role partners closely with Operations, Engineering, Reliability, Procurement, Finance, and contractors to establish best practices, drive continuous improvement, optimize maintenance spending, and strengthen governance processes that support safe, reliable, and efficient plant operations.

The Maintenance Excellence Manager serves as a strategic leader focused on improving maintenance planning, scheduling, execution, performance measurement, contractor management, and long-term asset reliability while supporting operational excellence initiatives.

Maintenance Excellence Manager Essential Job Functions:

  • Develop and drive the site's maintenance excellence strategy, standardizing processes and leading continuous improvement to enhance reliability, productivity, and cost performance.
  • Improve maintenance planning, scheduling, and work management processes to maximize efficiency, resource utilization, and execution effectiveness.
  • Advance reliability and predictive maintenance programs to improve equipment performance, reduce downtime, and optimize asset lifecycle management.
  • Provide oversight of turnaround planning and execution, establishing performance standards and integrating turnaround, maintenance, and capital project activities.
  • Optimize contractor utilization, provide performance oversight, and improve integration  between routine maintenance, turnarounds, and capital projects.
  • Drive maintenance cost performance through budgeting, forecasting, spending analysis, and identification of cost improvement opportunities.
  • Develop dashboards and KPIs to monitor maintenance performance and support business decision-making. 
  • Establish maintenance governance processes, lead performance reviews, and facilitate root cause analysis and corrective action planning. 
  • Lead and develop maintenance excellence teams while fostering cross-functional collaboration, accountability, and a culture of continuous improvement.


Maintenance Excellence Manager Minimum Requirements:

  • Must meet one of the following education or experience requirements: 
    • Bachelor's degree* in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Engineering Management, or related technical discipline with a minimum of 10 years of progressive maintenance, reliability, operations, or turnaround leadership experience in chemical manufacturing, refining, petrochemical, or heavy industrial environments; OR
    • High school diploma or GED with a minimum of 15 years of progressive maintenance, reliability, operations, or turnaround leadership experience in chemical manufacturing, refining, petrochemical, or heavy industrial environments
  • Minimum of 3 years of direct supervisory experience in daily maintenance activities, turnaround management, or operations
  • Demonstrated experience leading large maintenance organizations and cross-functional teams
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and implement Maintenance Work Processes and operating systems in a chemical manufacturing environment
  • Experience managing maintenance, turnaround, and capital portfolios
  • Strong financial and business acumen with experience managing maintenance budgets
  • Experience implementing maintenance performance metrics and governance processes
  • Must be able to obtain a TWIC (Transportation Worker Identification Credential) and possess a valid US Driver's license
