Job Overview:

A highly respected and rapidly growing food manufacturer—recognized as one of the top food production facilities in the Chicago suburbs—is seeking a skilled Industrial Maintenance Electrician Technician to join its maintenance team. This role is critical to ensuring the uptime and efficiency of the company’s modern production and packaging lines.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform setup, inspections, preventive maintenance, and service work on a wide range of facility and production equipment

  • Troubleshoot and repair mechanical and electrical issues in both low and high voltage systems, including electromechanical and control systems

  • Install, maintain, and repair equipment such as:

    • Production machinery: blenders, grinders, pumps, fillers, sealers, cappers, conveyors

    • Packaging systems: metal detectors, printers, case packers, case tapers

    • Utility systems: HVAC units, air compressors, air handlers, and software interfaces

  • Execute emergency repairs during production downtime to ensure minimal disruption

  • Interpret manuals, schematics, blueprints, and technical specifications

  • Use computer-based systems for tracking work orders, PMs, and inventory

  • Participate in equipment startups and commissioning including wiring, testing, grounding, and calibration

  • Maintain accurate daily records including downtime logs, spare part usage, and completed tasks

  • Ensure strict compliance with OSHA safety regulations, GMP standards, and internal safety protocols

  • Take on additional duties as assigned by leadership

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED required

  • Formal technical training in electrical systems strongly preferred

  • 3–5 years of industrial maintenance experience, preferably within a food manufacturing environment

  • Solid knowledge of industrial electrical systems, troubleshooting, and safety codes

  • Strong mechanical background including pneumatic and hydraulic systems

  • Proficiency reading electrical drawings, schematics, and manuals

  • Ability to troubleshoot and repair complex machinery independently

  • Effective communication skills with the ability to interact professionally across teams

  • Self-directed and reliable with a strong work ethic

  • Able to lift up to 50 lbs and perform physically demanding tasks such as kneeling, standing, and climbing

  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends or alternate shifts when necessary
