Our Pelzer, SC facility is seeking a hands-on Maintenance & Automation Manager to support the reliability, performance, and continuous improvement of manufacturing equipment and facility systems. This role will lead preventive maintenance initiatives, support automation technologies, partner with equipment vendors, and drive improvements that maximize uptime, efficiency, and operational performance.

What You'll Do

As the Maintenance & Automation Manager, you will be responsible for maintaining and improving the reliability, performance, and efficiency of manufacturing equipment and facility systems. This is a hands-on leadership role that combines technical troubleshooting, preventive maintenance planning, automation support, vendor management, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Equipment Reliability & Maintenance

  • Develop, implement, and continuously improve preventive and predictive maintenance programs to maximize equipment uptime and reliability.
  • Utilize CMMS systems to schedule, track, and manage maintenance activities, work orders, and asset performance.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve equipment issues while partnering with maintenance technicians, operations, and engineering teams to minimize downtime.
  • Monitor key maintenance and reliability metrics and identify opportunities to improve equipment performance and operational efficiency.
  • Support root cause analysis efforts and implement corrective actions to prevent recurring equipment failures.

Automation & Manufacturing Equipment Support

  • Provide technical support for automated manufacturing equipment, PLCs, controls systems, robotics, HMIs, and related technologies.
  • Partner with vendors and internal teams on equipment installation, upgrades, commissioning, and optimization projects.
  • Identify opportunities to improve manufacturing processes through automation, equipment enhancements, and technology investments.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives focused on safety, quality, productivity, and equipment reliability.

Vendor & Project Management

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with equipment manufacturers, service providers, and maintenance vendors.
  • Coordinate vendor activities, service agreements, and equipment support to ensure timely resolution of issues.
  • Support capital projects, equipment upgrades, and facility improvements from planning through implementation.
  • Assist in evaluating maintenance and automation investments that improve operational performance and reduce downtime.

Team Collaboration & Leadership

  • Partner closely with Operations, Engineering, Quality, and Supply Chain teams to support production goals and business objectives.
  • Provide technical guidance and leadership to maintenance personnel and support their ongoing development.
  • Foster strong communication and teamwork across departments to drive operational excellence.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Mechatronics, Industrial, or related field) OR equivalent combination of education and relevant maintenance, automation, or manufacturing experience.
  • 4+ years of experience supporting maintenance, automation, manufacturing engineering, or reliability functions in a manufacturing environment.
  • Hands-on experience troubleshooting and supporting manufacturing equipment, automation systems, PLCs, controls, or robotics.
  • Experience developing and managing preventive maintenance programs and utilizing CMMS systems.
  • Experience working with equipment vendors, contractors, and service providers.
  • Strong problem-solving, troubleshooting, and project management skills.
  • Ability to work cross-functionally in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in electrical equipment, industrial products, or high-volume manufacturing environments.
  • Knowledge of predictive maintenance methodologies and reliability best practices.
  • Experience supporting automation projects, equipment installations, or manufacturing process improvements.
  • Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, TPM, or related continuous improvement experience.
