Job Overview:

We are currently hiring a Maintenance & Reliability Manager in Cincinnati, OH.

The Maintenance and Reliability Manager is responsible for the overall brewery maintenance and coordination of related activities with other departments in full compliance with company policy and objectives. The Leader in this role must ensure food Quality and Safety as it relates to maintenance

What You'll Brew: 

  • Promote a team‑oriented, safety‑first culture and ensure product quality standards (“no bad beer leaves the brewery”).
  • Enforce all safety, health, GMP, and company policies.
  • Participate in staff, shift, and safety meetings; lead departmental meetings and training.
  • Develop and implement methods to improve manufacturing efficiency and reduce operating costs.
  • Provide maintenance leadership, coaching, and development for a diverse, high‑performing team.
  • Collaborate effectively with union employees.
  • Build employee skill sets through training and development programs.
  • Identify operational gaps and create plans to achieve brewery KPIs.
  • Track and communicate maintenance and reliability metrics; reduce planned/unplanned downtime.
  • Support autonomous maintenance and system ownership initiatives.
  • Use Root Cause Analysis to drive safety, quality, and process improvements.
  • Monitor performance metrics and propose improvement solutions.
  • Participate in budgeting, cost control, and productivity improvement efforts.
  • Support maintenance planning, scheduling, and resource allocation.
  • Partner with Engineering to improve operations, reduce costs, and enhance equipment utilization.
  • Reduce equipment downtime through preventive and predictive maintenance programs.
  • Apply LEAN principles within the maintenance department.
  • Maintain a SOX‑compliant stockroom for critical parts and consumables.
  • Stay aligned with Engineering on equipment upgrades and performance improvements.
  • Manage the maintenance budget and eliminate repetitive purchases through root cause elimination.
  • Select, train, and develop shift personnel to meet departmental goals.
  • Provide hands‑on troubleshooting and evaluate new processes, equipment, and improvement opportunities.
  • Adapt to shifting priorities in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Travel as needed to support business initiatives.

 

What Ingredients You'll Bring: 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Process, Chemical Engineering, or related technical discipline required. 
  • 10+ years of progressive manufacturing leadership experience with increasing responsibility for people, equipment reliability, maintenance systems, and operational performance. 
  • Demonstrated site-level maintenance leadership experience within high-speed CPG manufacturing environments, including packaging, process, utilities, and facility systems. 
  • Proven experience managing critical utility systems, including compressed air, steam, refrigeration, water, wastewater, electrical distribution, and supporting infrastructure to ensure reliability, compliance, and cost effectiveness. 
  • Demonstrated success leading process improvement initiatives that drive measurable gains in reliability, OEE, productivity, cost, quality, and operational efficiency.  
  • Proven ability to design and implement sustainable work systems that improve equipment reliability, maintenance execution, and overall operational performance. 
  • Strong experience leading through frontline leaders and maintenance managers to drive technical performance, accountability, and execution excellence. 
  • Deep knowledge of maintenance excellence systems, including preventive/predictive maintenance, TPM, reliability-centered maintenance, and LEAN maintenance principles. 
  • Strong troubleshooting and root cause problem-solving capability across equipment, automation, utility, and process systems. 
  • Demonstrated success developing and executing capital projects, process optimization initiatives, and continuous improvement strategies. 
  • Financial acumen with experience managing maintenance budgets, capital planning, cost control, and resource prioritization. 
  • Working knowledge of industrial controls, automation systems, CMMS, and manufacturing software platforms, Maximo knowledge a plus
  • Track record of building high-performance teams, improving employee engagement, and developing organizational capability. 
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to influence stakeholders across operations, engineering, supply chain, and external partners. 
  • Demonstrated ability to operate effectively under pressure, manage competing priorities, and consistently deliver key business results. 
  • Strong cross-functional collaboration mindset with a hands-on, service-oriented leadership approach. 
  • Practical experience in high-speed bottling, canning, or packaging operations within food and beverage manufacturing strongly preferred. 
  • Results-driven leader with a resourceful, action-oriented mindset and strong bias for execution.

 

Level: 5M

At the Boston Beer Company and in accordance with pay transparency laws, we are open about our salary ranges. For this role, the salary range is between $102,000 - $163,000. However, it’s important to note that where the person hired starts in this range is dependent on their related experience, skillset and location. Additionally, this position qualifies for a discretionary annual bonus based on company and individual performance, and certain sales roles might include a car allowance.
