Job Overview:

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Maintenance Technician/Machinist Apprentice to join our team. With this role your time will be split 50/50. As a part time Maintenance Technician, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the proper function and maintenance of our machinery, equipment, and facilities. As a part time Machinist Apprentice, you will assist the current Machinist in operating machining tools to produce precision metal and plastic parts that meet precise specifications, by setting up and operating of a wide variety of machine tool equipment. Your attention to detail, technical expertise, and commitment to quality will contribute to the success of the organization. Training, technical documents, and oversight are provided by NEACO management.  

 

Essential Responsibilities

  • Perform preventive maintenance and repairs and conduct regular inspections of machinery and other mechanical systems.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot issues related to shop equipment.
  • Collaborate with production and engineering teams to address equipment malfunctions and minimize downtime.
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, including parts replaced and repairs performed.
  • Maintain cleanliness on all areas of the shop floor and machine shop.
  • Select & source tooling, materials and supplies as needed.
  • Create non-standard tooling for assembly/disassembly & testing/inspection of components and final assemblies.
  • Measure components using CMM, surface plate setup, hand tools etc. 
  • Design tooling using CAD/CAM software.
  • Program and setup CNC and run milling & turning machinery.
  • Setup and run manual equipment as needed.
  • Repair and modify components and assemblies.
  • Fill out daily production and conformance paperwork. 
  • Meet production and quality requirements and standards. 
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area.
  • Perform related tasks as needed as directed by management

 

Experience and Skills

  • 2+ years of similar or related work experience. 
  • Proven experience in maintaining and repairing machine equipment.
  • Expertise with a wide range of tools, equipment, and systems
  • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and schematics.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities
  • Ability to organize and prioritize tasks
  • Proficiency in using precision measuring instruments (calipers, micrometers, etc.)
  • Strong knowledge of machining techniques and tool selection
  • Willingness to learn new skills and methods 
  • Excellent problem-solving skills
  • Physical stamina and ability to lift heavy objects
  • Familiarity with CNC programming is a plus
  • Experience as a Machinist in the aerospace industry is a plus
  • Familiarity with aerospace materials (such as titanium, aluminum, and composites).
  • Knowledge of FAA (Federal Aviation Administration) regulations and industry standards is a plus.

Education

  • High school diploma or GED is required.
  • Associates degree or higher in a related technical field preferred.
  • Trade schooling or related industry experience required.
  • Relevant technical certification or vocational training in machining or mechanical maintenance

 

 

Compensation

  • Hourly position commensurate with experience level and skill level and/or certifications. ($24-$28)
