Job Overview:

Responsible for making quality production parts safely running a piece of production equipment. Production equipment may include: Stamping Presses, Perforating Presses, Expanders, CTL, Lasers, Turret Presses, Tube Forming Equipment and Tig Welders. Ability to demonstrate proficiency setting up equipment in their respective department.

DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Perform set up and machine operations duties as required in a safe manner.

  2. Read and interpret drawings and routings to determine requirements such as size of material, type of material and the quantity to be made.

  3. Involves making adjustments to setups to make quality parts.

  4. Parts should be checked for defects (burrs, missing holes, cracks, etc.) from previous operations during present operation.

  5. The move ticket completely filled out and attached to load.

  6. Required to report hours and production quantities in the applicable system.

  7. Use the safest procedure for handling, stacking and moving the material with a cart, hand truck or forklift as necessary.

  8. Perform hourly and first piece quality inspections and tracking of material utilizing appropriate measuring instruments and tools.

  9. Adherence to standard operating procedures.

  10. Comply with all health and safety procedures.

  11. Required to train other employees.

  12. Adhere to basic housekeeping of work area; i.e., wood, scrap metal, garbage, liquid spills.

  13. Other duties as assigned by Supervisor or Department Assistant.

REQUIRED SKILLS and KNOWLEDGE:

  1. 2+ years’ experience in machine operation, set up, mechanical position within a manufacturing environment preferred. High level of mechanical aptitude required.
  2. Understanding of quality requirement and of ISO 9001:2015 procedures.
  3. Experience working with Lean Manufacturing Principles and Concepts preferred.
  4. Knowledge of department procedures and applicable system transactions.
  5. Able to read and understand blueprints, diagrams and work instructions.
  6. Knowledge of company policies, shop and safety rules.
  7. Knowledge on the care and use of inspection devices and tools.
  8. Perform basic shop floor mathematics.
  9. Exceptional attention to details.
  10. Strong motivation, high energy and ability to work independently or with a team.
  11. As required, ability to perform repetitive bending, kneeling, and lift cumbersome and or heavy objects (up to 50 lbs).
