Primary Objective:

The Machinist V will work from drawings and/or written instructions, set up and operate a variety of manual or CNC machinery and equipment to produce precision parts.

Major Areas of Accountability

Operates multiple machines at multiple work centers and performs specific machinist functions. Must be able to set up and troubleshoot machines at multiple work centers.

Ability to prove out new part programs for production or engineering cell. Collaborate with programming/engineering on blue prints and programs.

Provides instruction, training and leadership to employees in other positions within the Machine Shop.

Recommend and implement process improvements to increase productivity and gain efficiencies.

Verifies conformance of finished work to ensure compliance to tolerance and company specifications.

Identifies dull or worn inserts or tools and makes changes as necessary.

Makes tool offsets as required.

Completes preventative maintenance as required.

Regularly uses microscope and other high end measuring equipment to view and inspect parts.

Performs other related duties as directed.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

Education	High school graduate; or GED; or BOCES Machine Shop classes; or Skilled trade school graduate
Experience	5 years of machine shop experience Advanced shop math skills Advanced blue print reading skills Knowledge and demonstrated experience of CNC/ Manual machines Demonstrated problem solving skills Demonstrated experience in order of operations
Travel Requirements	None

Education	None
Experience	10 years of machine shop experience Ability to apply concepts of trigonometry Advanced inspection measuring equipment knowledge
