Caltrol, Inc is looking for a full-time Manual Machinist / Technician to join our Service Group.

Our ideal candidate has demonstrable experience operating manual turning lathes, mills, horizonal and vertical boring machines to machine components back to factory defined critical dimensions. Strong attention to safety and detail is required.

Hiring Range

The hiring range for this position is** $29.00 - $34.00 p/hour.** This is the pay scale range Caltrol reasonably expects to pay for this position at the time of this posting. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and may vary based on geographic region, skills, qualifications, and experience of the candidate along with the requirements of the position.

What you'll be doing:

Adherence to all safety, quality and environmental rules and policies.
Machine parts to specifications using various manual machines.
Check valve components for correctness, tolerances, and defects using calipers, depth gauges and other measuring devices.
Write Non-Conformance report when defects are detected during the assembly or repair process.
Set-up, indicate, and recondition relief valve parts and internals to OEM specs.
Work with technicians to evaluate parts and check critical dimensions against drawings.
Operation and maintenance of all manual machinery such as mills, lathes, grinders, and drill press.
Potential for field assignments using in-line machine.
Must be willing to perform other duties during any down time, including:
Customer pick-up and deliveries.
- Assisting Pressure Relief Valve Technicians with teardown, assembly, sandblasting, and testing pressure relief valves and devices.
Must be open and willing for ongoing training including achieving Technician competencies.

What we’re looking for:

High school graduate or GED equivalent.
3-5 years machining or trade school equivalent experience.
Must understand different material properties, cutting tools, speed, and feeds.
Demonstratable ability to operate manual lathe, mills, and horizontal and vertical boring machines.
Hand tool and power tool experience.
Caliper and height gauge experience.
Basic computer skills: MS Outlook and ability to navigate and comprehend basic applications and Caltrol repair process software.
Excellent math skills.
Reliability, attention to detail, and ability to work independently or in a team.
Must have a valid driver's license in good standing and an acceptable driving record.
Must be available for overtime, including weekends and out-of-state last minute emergency work.
Must be able to successfully pass a drug test and be subject to random hair follicle drug testing that includes testing for marijuana.

A Plus if you have:

Basic knowledge of how control valves or isolation valves pressure relief valves work.
Strong mechanical background.
Engineering experience.
Experience working with local customers.

**Physical Demands: **

Potential exposure to chemicals and work in close proximity to moving mechanical and mobile equipment. Must be able to wear maximum level of required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) without restriction which may include but is not limited to hardhat; safety glasses; fire resistant clothing; safety-toed footwear; hearing protection; respiratory protection, etc. Must be able to walk and/or stand for up to 8 hours per day. Frequent climbing, kneeling, reaching, pushing, pulling, lifting, and grasping. Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Must be able to work outside in varying temperatures and environmental conditions.

Travel:

Minimal travel and only for company events or training.
