***SECOND SHIFT***
You will be the Machinist Sr for the Manufacturing team. Our team is responsible for precision machining of high‑performance missile components, delivering exacting tolerances and ensuring every part meets Lockheed Martin’s rigorous quality standards.
What You Will Be Doing
As the Machinist Sr you will be responsible for operating CNC equipment, fabricating complex parts, and continuously improving our machining processes.
Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
- Set‑up, program, and operate CNC machine tools andli>
- Interpret engineering drawings and work orders to select tooling, fixturing, and machining strategies.
- Fabricate, inspect, rework, and calibrate components using precision measuring instruments.
- Design and build production aids, jigs, and fixtures that streamline operations and boost efficiency.
- Identify design‑for‑manufacturability improvements and communicate recommendations to engineering.

MUST BE A U.S. CITIZEN - This position is located at a facility that requires special access.
Eligible candidates for this internal requisition must be a current represented Missiles and Fire Control employee covered under the UAW Local 788 Collective Bargaining Agreement.
Basic Qualifications
Prior experience in the Precision Machining environment or formal trade school or completion of an apprenticeship program.
Responsible for complete, accurate and compliant documentation.
Must be able to read and interpret drawings per Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerance (GD&T) ANSI Y14.5 Standards. (1982 and 1994 Baseline).
Must be able to assess and determine machine tools required to produce work assigned and provide estimates of time required to produce parts.
Must be proficient in G-Code and M-Code programming with the ability to troubleshoot, edit, prove out processes, perform first piece runs, and recommend changes to programs on multi-axis machine tools proficiently.
Due to facility requirements, all candidates must be U.S. citizens
Desired skills
Ability to demonstrate advanced skills in machine tool operations as well as the operation of CNC controls and probing processes.
Ability to implement and document process changes per Company policy and procedures.
Ability to be able to develop First Piece Runs and De-bug Processes.
Ability to verify product dimensions using precision measuring tools.
Ability to provide inputs to support team to reduce product launch cycle.
Knowledgeable of the applications of feeds and speeds and cutting tools to ferrous and non-ferrous materials.
Plans the sequence of operations and/or layouts and construction of various types and sizes of jigs and fixtures, master tools and gauges, used in the fabrication of product parts and assemblies, including the fabrication of jigs and fixtures for master tooling. Perform fitting, fabrication and assembly of tools and dies, master gauges and master tools; molds and templates; to lay out, form and finish special machines parts.
To set up and operate CNC and manual machining equipment including 5- axis horizontal and vertical mills and multi-axis multi spindle millturns to perform such operations as drilling, boring and milling on raw stock, parts, castings, forgings, dies, machine fixtures and other type tools.

Ability to work remotely
Onsite Full-time: The work associated with this position will be performed onsite at a designated Lockheed Martin facility.
Work Schedule Information
Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.
