Position Overview:
- Demonstrate an ability to perform satisfactory work with minimum supervision
- Perform setups and make adjustments to setups as required
- Perform inspection of work produced

Primary Responsibilities:
- Reads and interprets drawings, sketches and blueprints and be able to interpret Geometrics Dimensioning and Tolerancing
- Sets up and operates machine shop equipment, e.g., mills, lathes, drill presses, etc., to cut material and drill holes according to specifications
- Inspects and measures completed projects with micrometers, calipers, venires, etc., to ensure conformance to specifications
- Ability to use Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMM)
- Must Adhere to all EH&S regulations and policies as well as attend related training courses
- Follow EH&S roles and responsibilities in accordance with Cargo Policy MP5322
- Completion of certified operator program
- Working knowledge of machine control languages
- Ensure preventive maintenance schedules are completed with TPM boards kept up-to-date
- Maintains a neat and well organized work area
- Engages in Continuous Imprudent activities associated with their work area (TPM, Heijunka, Standard Work, SMED)
- Verifies machine dimensions, alignments and clearances in accordance to specifications
- Selects, aligns and secures grinding wheels, holding fixtures, attachments, accessories and materials on machines
- Calculates and sets controls to regulate grinding parameters, such as speed, feed and depth and angel of cut
- Can efficiently setup and operate CNC mills, machining centers and/or lathes on a simple to moderate operation
- Experience with machining tooling and prototypes
- High usage of all company data collection mechanism (dispatches, datapass, autotime)
- Conduct self quality audits/perform first piece inspections, and subsequent inspections on all work
- Perform various miscellaneous and non-standard duties as required
Basic Qualifications:
- Typically requires a HS diploma with a minimum of 2 year of relevant experience. In the absence of a HS diploma or GED, 4 years of relevant experience is required
- Must be authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship now or in the future. Collins Aerospace will not offer sponsorship for this position.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Machine Shop Technology Degree
- Blueprint Reading
- Shop Math/Metrology
- Experience operating CNC Machines
- Experience with continuous improvement programs (TPM, Heinjunka, Standard Work, SMED)
- Geometric dimensions and tolerances
- Should have a working knowledge of a wide variety of cutting tools such as but not limited to mills drills, carbide inserts and variety of tool steels.
