Job Description
BAE Systems is seeking a skilled Tool and Die Machinist to join our team. As a Tool and Die Machinist, you will play a critical role in constructing, repairing, and maintaining tools, dies, fixtures, and gauges to meet manufacturing requirements. You will work closely with production operators to troubleshoot and preset tools, ensuring seamless production operations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Construct, repair, and maintain tools, dies, fixtures, and gauges to precise manufacturing specifications
- Collaborate with production operators to troubleshoot tool issues and perform presetting as needed
- Ensure all tools and equipment are properly maintained and functioning within established quality and safety standards
Work Schedule:
- 1st Shift: Friday - Sunday, 12-hour days (5:00 AM - 5:30 PM)
Required Skills and Education
- 4 years of tool room experience with grinders, lathes, milling machines, and equipment
- Knowledge of tooling practices and techniques
- Ability to lay out work, plan machine operations, perform difficult machine set-ups and operations, and improvise tooling
- Ability to set up and operate machines with up to a 34" reach
- Ability to use hoists or lifting devices
- Ability to read blueprints, calculate dimensions, and read measuring instruments
- Ability to machine for unusual adaptations
