Job Overview:

The Machinist plays a crucial role in the manufacturing process, operating machinery to produce precision parts. They are responsible for ensuring the safe operation of machines and meeting production specifications.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

The Machinist II will be responsible for the following:

  • Operate CNC lathes and mills to machine parts according to specifications
  • Conduct ongoing dimensional inspections and document results
  • Monitor machine operation, ensuring proper functionality
  • Maintain a clean work area and adhere to safety protocols
  • Manufacture parts to the required quantity and document processes in the ERP system
  • Inspect parts using precision tools like micrometers and calipers
  • Set up and operate machines independently for precision part production
  • Read and interpret part routing, drawings, and specifications
  • Identify and change worn inserts as necessary
  • Adjust machine offsets and complete change-over activities
  • Produce first article parts, inspect them, and ensure documentation completion
  • Other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma / GED
  • Proficiency in using precision measuring tools
  • Physical ability to lift at least 70 pounds and perform labor
  • Adaptability to evolving work requirements in a team environment
  • Willingness to work overtime, weekends, and holidays
  • Certification to operate a forklift, pallet jack, and crane
  • Ability to read and understand instructions, quality control, and safety guidelines
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Basic math and computer skills
  • Familiarity with various types of metal-cutting machinery
