Job Overview:

Primary Objective:

 

An entry level Machinist I will work from drawings and/or written instructions to operate manual or CNC machinery and equipment to produce precision parts under direct supervision.   

        

Major Areas of Accountability

 

  1. General knowledge of at least one work center and performs machinist functions at an entry level.
  2. Verifies conformance of finished work to ensure compliance to tolerance and company specifications.
  3. Ability to identify dull or worn inserts or tools.
  4. Makes tool offsets under supervision.
  5. Aware of required preventative maintenance.
  6. Learn to perform in-process inspection using precision measuring instruments.   
  7. Performs other related duties as directed.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

Education

  • High school graduate; or
  • GED; or
  • BOCES Machine Shop classes; or
  • Skilled trade school graduate

Experience

  • Basic Shop math skills
  • Basic blue print reading skills
  • Basic mechanical ability 
  • General Knowledge of CNC/ Manual machines

  • Demonstrated problem solving skills 
  • Demonstrated experience in order of operations 
  • Ability to apply concepts of trigonometry
  • Inspection measuring equipment exposure and/or knowledge

This position requires access to “controlled technology” as defined in the Export Administration Regulations (15 C.F.R. §730 et. seq.) and “technical data” as defined in the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (22 C.F.R, Chapter 1, Subchapter M).
