General Summary
Sets up and operates CNC, drill presses, lathes, mill, OD grinder, surface grinders, and other machines and hand tools to fabricate metallic and nonmetallic parts all in accordance with safety and quality requirements.
Key Responsibilities
• Studies sample parts, blueprints, drawings, sample parts, or engineering information to determine methods and sequence of operations to fabricate product.
• Measures, marks, and scribes dimensions and reference points on material or work piece as guides for subsequent machining.
• Selects, aligns, and secures holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and materials on machines such as CNC, mills, lathes, jig borers, grinders, and shapers.
• Calculates and sets controls to regulate machining factors such as speed, feed, coolant flow, and depth and angle of cut, or enters commands to retrieve, input, or edit computerized machine control media.
• Starts and observes machine operation to detect malfunctions or out-of-tolerance machining and adjusts machine controls or control media as required.
• Measures, examines, and tests completed units to detect defects and ensure conformance to specifications.
• Evaluates experimental procedures and recommends changes or modifications for efficiency and adaptability to setup and production.
• Other duties as assigned.

Education
High school diploma or equivalent required. Continued coursework in machining, tooling highly preferred.
Experience
5+ years of related experience/coursework using CNC (Mazak and MasterCam experience a plus), drill presses, lathes, and grinders preferred.
Skills & Abilities
Must be able to read, write, and speak English. Must have a proven track record that demonstrates your ability to effectively set up, and operate CNC equipment, drill presses, lathes, mills, OD grinders, surface grinders, and other machines and hand tools to successfully fabricate metallic and nonmetallic parts. Possess a strong engineering aptitude, should be able to conceptualize metallic and non-metallic parts and analyze processes required to fabricate them accordingly. Must be able to compute complex mathematical equations (algebra and geometry) including ratios, proportions, percentages, as well as add, subtract, multiply, divide. Must be capable of standing for a full shift (8 to 12 hours), able to lift, push, pull 50 pounds, walk, stoop, kneel, bend over, and grasp objects with both hands on a frequent basis.
