Job Overview:

**Position Summary

**

The Machinist is responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining a variety of machine tools to produce precision parts and components used in manufacturing operations. This role supports plant reliability and production efficiency by fabricating, repairing, and modifying equipment and tooling while maintaining high standards of safety, quality, and accuracy. The Machinist is also responsible for general plant maintenance.

**Essential Functions

**

• Set up and operate manual and/or CNC machine tools including lathes, mills, grinders, and drill presses

• Fabricate, repair, and modify machine parts, tooling, and fixtures

• Interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings

• Inspect completed parts using precision instruments (micrometers, calipers, gauges)

• Troubleshoot equipment issues and support maintenance and engineering teams

• Perform preventative maintenance on tools and machinery

• Maintain documentation of work performed

• Follow all safety standards and procedures

• Support continuous improvement initiatives and 5S practices

• Ability to work overtime during the week and weekends

**Qualifications

**

  • **Education & Experience

:

**

• High school diploma or GED required

• Vocational/Technical school recommended

• 2-3+ years of machining experience in manufacturing preferred

  • **Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

**

• Blueprint and technical drawing interpretation

• Precision measurement and inspection

• Mechanical troubleshooting

• CNC experience preferred

• Attention to detail and quality

• Ability to work independently and in a team environment

**Work Environment

**

Manufacturing environment with exposure to noise, machinery, oils, and temperature variations. Required use of PPE including safety glasses, gloves, and steel-toed boots.

**Physical Requirements

**

• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods (up to 8-12 hours per shift)

• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds

• Frequent use of hands and tools

• Ability to bend, stoop, kneel, and reach

• Good hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity
