Director of Manufacturing/ Other

2.  Directs:

Working Leads, Set up Operators, Machine Operators, Finishing Cell and Material Handling Crew.

3.  Other: 

Interacts with production control, Safety, Purchasing, Manufacturing, Quality, H/R, Supervisors and        Managers in all areas of the company

 

 





 

Essential Duties, Responsibilities and Authorities 

Include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Responsible for operations in all machining areas of primary & secondary machining, chemical processing for cleaning and plating production components and Material Handling.
  • Possess a working knowledge of machining, chemical processing for cleaning and plating, material handling, quality programs, safety programs and managing resources.
  • Understands production planning concepts. 
  • Capable of driving positive change in all aspects of departments’ operations by using  continuous improvement tools and methodologies, teamwork and shop floor metrics, to include quality, cost, delivery, safety and housekeeping.                 
  • Carries out managerial responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable     laws. 
  • Plans, assigns, and directs work, appraises performance, rewards and disciplines employees, addresses complaints and resolves problems.
  • Utilizes all available resources to meet delivery dates and quality standards.
  • Oversees, manages, and schedules personnel and activities of respective areas of responsibility.
  • Implements and monitors productivity improvements such as cycle time improvements and cost cutting measures.
  • Ensures all safety procedures and rules are followed and all safety issues are resolved.
  • Works extra hours as required in completing tasks and meeting requirements and delivery dates.
  • Initiates and follows through on action items to improve production methods, equipment performance and quality of products
  •     Coordinates manpower requirements to meet changing conditions.
  • Oversees the proper procedures of shop orders, in-house inspections, operator inspections, nonconformance issues, and disposition of material and scrap are followed. 
  • Verifies that all methods of operation and ISO procedures are updated and followed and effective training programs are maintained.
  • Demonstrates strong leadership by leading by example
  • Ensures that preventative maintenance is performed and documented according to released methods 100% of the time.
  • Demonstrates effective communication and interpersonal skills. 
  • Recruits, trains, and coaches employees  

Verifies that all methods and operation procedures are followed and effective training programs are maintained

Knowledge of:

  • Production planning concepts 
  •  machining, assembly, material handling, Chemical processing, quality programs, repair of buildings and equipment, safety programs 

Skills/Ability to:

 

  • Able to read and interpret documents such as safety rules and procedures manuals
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence 
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of employees
  • Ability to perform basic math skills in all units of measure.     
  • Ability to compute percentages and interpret graphs            
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form
  • Ability to generate production related reports
  • Intermediate skills of Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook
  • Additional software as required  

 

Acceptable Experience or Training:

  • Ten years of manufacturing experience in operations including machining, industrial assembly, chemical processing for cleaning and plating production components and material handling activities. 
  • Five years experience with implementation of continuous improvement initiatives 

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:

  • Associate degree in Sciences, Engineering or Business Administration preferred, or relevant experience.
