Summary


Program, operate and maintain high pressure water jet machine to produce aircraft parts from sheet metal; troubleshoot equipment malfunctions and adjust machine; accordingly, effectively utilize calipers, indicators, scales, and other measuring equipment.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities include, but not limited to the following: 

  • Operate water jet machine using works orders, drawings and specifications to determine necessary setup and materials 
  • Read and interpret blueprints 
  • Select types of sheet metal needed for projects 
  • Measure and accurately mark reference lines and dimensions on metal sheets 
  • Drill holes in metal for rivets, bolts and screws 
  • Install and align machine accessories either manually with hand tools or by inputting coordinates into machine control panel 
  • Manipulate machine controls to implement cutting adjustments 
  • Recognizes, deploys and properly uses nozzles, offsets, heads and tooling 
  • Navigate server to locate program storage area and be able to load, run and modify programs as needed
  • Load and feed machine as needed 
  • Performs daily and regular cleaning and light maintenance tasks on waterjet machines and equipment
  • Use gauges and measuring instruments to meet tolerance requirements 
  • Use precision tools, machinery and equipment such as waterjet, grinders, sanders, and other non-electric tools 
  • Carry out duties in a safe and responsible manner and abide by safety procedures 
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

 Education and Experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent, with additional vocational or specialty trade qualifications.
  • Two years of experience operating water jet equipment required
  • Manufacturing experience required, preferably in Aerospace, Aviation, or related field
  • Ability to prioritize, multi-task and resolve issues in a fast paced and team orientated environment.

Technical Skills


  • Proficient in use of precision measuring instruments (calipers, micrometers, depth gauges, tape measure, indicators, etc.) 
  • Ability to read and understand drawings and specifications with knowledge of geometric tolerance and dimensions

Language Skills

  • English fluency; Spanish fluency a plus

Physical Demands


While performing the duties of this job, the employee must be able to stand 6 to 8 hours a day. Must be able to work with their hands, arms and be extremely accurate. Must be able to walk, sit, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl on a regular basis. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Work Environment

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving high-speed machinery and mechanical parts. The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions. outside weather conditions, machine oils, metal fillings, acetone, paints, solvents, grease, cutting fluids, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and risk of electrical shock or vibration.
