Description

Summary: Fabricate metal components by operating lasers, press brake benders, and other equipment and devices. A variety of tasks are performed fabricating components including loading metal sheets, using computer programs, part inspections, and documentation.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

 

  • Fabricate steel and aluminum metals by operating lasers, press brake benders, and other equipment as required to meet daily production requirements.
  • Must be able to read and interpret drawings and specifications, use computer programs, measuring devices, and other instructions or procedures to accurately produce parts.
  • Apply high attention to detail, energy, problem-solving, and initiative to learn and be trained on various types of equipment and processes.
  • Regularly move material between areas of the shop using carts, pallet jacks and powered overhead lifts.
  • Track and organize stock levels, label materials properly, and assist with cycle counts to ensure accuracy.
  • Receive incoming shipments, verify material against packing slips, and store items in the appropriate locations.
  • Complete required documentation and visual inspections of finished components for production and quality purposes.
  • Workload will be tracked via daily production schedule requirements and assignments requiring responsibility for quality and timeliness of completion.
  • Ability to perform routine machine maintenance and basic troubleshooting, job functions safely and effectively in a fast-paced environment while practicing good housekeeping and wearing all required PPE.
  • Other duties may be assigned.

  • Machine operation experience; willing to train motivated individuals.
  • Ability to read basic blueprints and work instructions.
  • Read and execute daily production schedules.
  • Read a tape measure, level and other common measuring devices.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for extended periods in a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong attention to detail, teamwork, and communication skills.

 

Education and/or Experience:  

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

 

Language Skills:  

Ability to read and interpret English documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals

 

Mathematical Skills:  

Ability to add and subtract three digit numbers;  Ability to multiply and divide with 10s and 100s; Ability to convert basic fractions into decimals; Ability to use a calculator.

 

Reasoning Ability: 

Ability to identify nonconforming parts to determine pass/fail criteria

 

Other Qualifications: 

Valid Tennessee driver’s license; must be able to obtain a Powered Industrial Truck Certification
