Location: Flexible Metal, Inc. - Tucker, GA 30084, a Hyspan Company

Schedule: Monday - Friday | Will begin training on first shift (6 am - 2:30 pm), then transition to second shift (3 pm - 11:30 pm). 

Employment Type: Full Time

Pay Rate: $21 - $24

What You'll do 

The Set-up Operator sets up, operates, and assists in the repair of a variety of production machinery with minimal supervision. This role ensures machines run to specification, supports Machine Operators through guidance and training, and serves as a liaison with Maintenance to keep production running safely and efficiently.

Set-up & Machine Operation

  • Perform all duties safely and efficiently in accordance with company safety policies.
  • Set up machines to specification to ensure correct production standards.
  • Work with production supervisors and team leads to perform tooling changeovers on tube-bending machines.
  • Start and stop machines as needed, following proper lockout/tagout (LOTO) procedures.
  • Properly position and secure workpieces on machines and start feeding mechanisms.
  • Monitor the continuous operation of automatic machines to ensure products meet specifications, detect jams or malfunctions, and make adjustments as needed.
  • Remove finished products from machinery and monitor operation to ensure a quality process.
  • Use hand tools as needed, such as hammers, mallets, and specific air tools.

Quality & Inspection

  • Inspect workpieces using gauges and templates to verify machine accuracy and ensure quality production.
  • Visually inspect products for surface and dimensional defects to ensure conformance to specifications.
  • Assist in identifying the root cause of errors and defects.

Maintenance & Team Support

  • Serve as a liaison with Maintenance on machine repair and preventive maintenance.
  • Communicate machinery or tooling problems to the supervisor, collaborate on resolving issues, and suggest improvements.
  • Assist the supervisor in providing guidance, direction, and training to Machine Operators.
  • Perform all Machine Operator duties as needed.
  • Cross-train on other production equipment.

Production & Documentation

  • Meet production standards, quotas, pace, and schedule while maintaining high quality.
  • Accurately complete all required job and operation documentation.
  • Maintain a clean work area in accordance with company procedures.
  • Other duties as assigned.

What You'll Bring

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 3–5 years of experience as a machine operator in a manufacturing environment preferred.
  • Knowledge of tube-bending operations is a plus.
  • Strong machine set-up, inspection (gauges and templates), and troubleshooting skills preferred.
  • Ability to read, write, and communicate in English sufficient to complete job documentation and follow safety procedures.


Physical Requirements

This position requires standing and walking for extended periods, frequent lifting of materials up to 50 pounds, repetitive bending and reaching, and safely operating warehouse equipment including forklifts and pallet jacks.
