Machine Repair / Maintenance Technician
Location: Akron, OH
Pay: $26–$35/hr, plus shift premium
Available Shifts:
- 2nd Shift: Monday–Friday, 3pm–11:30pm; $0.75/hr premium
- 3rd Shift: Sunday–Friday, 11pm–7:30am; $0.50/hr premium
Position Overview
We are seeking a Maintenance Technician to troubleshoot, repair and maintain injection molding machinery, finishing equipment and facility systems in Akron, OH.
The team is particularly interested in candidates with electrical maintenance experience involving PLCs, robotics and automation, alongside solid mechanical troubleshooting skills.
Key Responsibilities
- Diagnose electrical, mechanical and operational faults and complete repairs to minimize production downtime.
- Troubleshoot automated machinery, controls, PLC-related faults and robotic equipment within your training and authorization.
- Repair, overhaul and replace faulty equipment components.
- Perform preventive maintenance, equipment inspections and scheduled changeovers.
- Clear jams, make operating adjustments and test machinery following repairs.
- Install and maintain production equipment, including electrical and electronic components.
- Fabricate replacement parts using appropriate machinery and hand tools when required.
- Work closely with injection molding and finishing teams to prioritize repairs and maintain production quality.
- Identify and report unsafe equipment conditions.
- Follow lockout/tagout procedures and safe electrical maintenance practices.
- Maintain clean work areas and accurate maintenance records.
Qualifications
- Vocational education in machine repair or a related discipline, or equivalent technical training and experience.
- At least one year of general maintenance experience, or equivalent relevant education or journeyman training.
- Electrical maintenance experience strongly preferred, particularly with PLCs, robotics and automated production equipment.
- Working knowledge of plastic injection molding machinery and associated equipment.
- Ability to read technical instructions, electrical schematics and equipment documentation.
- Strong mechanical troubleshooting skills and the ability to work accurately with limited supervision.
- Knowledge of safe maintenance practices and equipment repair procedures.
- Willingness to work overtime, weekends or other shifts when required.
- Must provide your own hand tools.
Working Conditions
The role involves working around operating machinery, heat and dust. Tasks may require working beneath equipment, in confined or awkward positions, and at heights. Safe working practices and appropriate protective equipment are required.
