ANCHOR PACKAGING is a growing manufacturer of disposable food service packaging located in Northeastern Arkansas is looking for experienced MANUFACTURING MACHINE OPERATORS.   Anchor Packaging operates 4 locations in NE Arkansas.  The NE Arkansas area offers a wide variety of activities to residents in a medium-size college community as well as in a communities which are more rural, all are within a short drive of large metro areas. The area communities have excellent schools, affordable housing, and exceptional healthcare.  ANCHOR PACKAGING has experienced tremendous growth since the early 60’s with no lay-offs or cut-backs.  Requirements and details on our open positions are listed in the job postings on our career website at www.anchorpackaging.com/careers Our plants operate on 12-hour shifts and our team mates work 4 shifts one week, followed by 3 shifts the next. We offer 2 days shift and 2 night shifts.

PURPOSE 

To ensure efficient production and packaging of a quality product through safety, housekeeping, and run time.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 

  •         Basic understanding of computers and printers.
  •         Ensure a good understanding of the material handling system.
  •         Have a working knowledge of the feed system, extruder, former and trim press.
  •         Ensure labels match product and work orders.
  •         Ensure the quality of the product is at target to standard.
  •         Follow and maintain all safety policies
  •         Know and understand all aspect of paperwork.
  •         Have working knowledge of changeovers.
  •         Commit to good communication between your subordinates and peers.
  •         Be able to step in and pack on any line.
  •         Always lead by example.
  •         Must maintain good attendance and dependability. 
  •         Housekeeping of packing station and line area.
  •         Maintain all safety policies and guide lines. 
  •         Follow all Good Manufacturing Policies.
  •         Must be willing to work overtime when needed. 
  •         Other duties as assigned by group leader, supervisor, or manager of division

QUALIFICATIONS

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.  An ideal candidate will have been a packer in our plant for at least six months before becoming an operator.  If not, then it will be necessary for a new operator to go thru the packer training program and show efficiency as a packer as a pre-requisite.  

  •         Working knowledge of the extrusion and Off Line Thermoforming process and techniques.
  •         Be able to read and understand specifications.
  •         Be able to work a computer and print production tags.
  •         Must be honest, fair and possess good work ethics.
  •         Be able to read a tape measures, six inch scale, micrometer, and ZONTEC accurately.  
  •         Manager packers work/breaks efficiently to allow minimum disruptions.
  •         Must have good communication skills.
  •         Must have a good understanding of team concept.
  •         Must have some mechanical aptitude.
  •         Must have a good understanding of quality product requirement. 

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE 

Must have a High School Diploma or general education degree (GED), or three to six months related experience and training with Silver Level or Higher Work Keys Career Readiness Certification; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

LANGUAGE ABILITY

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, work instructions, and procedure manuals. 

MATH ABILITY

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

COMPUTER SKILLS

Incumbent needs a basic understanding of computers and printers.

  • The employee is regularly exposed to work near moving mechanical parts.
  • The employee is frequently exposed to work in high, precarious places.

  • The noise level in the work environment is usually loud. Grinders utilized in production area require constant hearing protection.
  • Working around grinder.
  • Cleaning filters and material systems.
  • Exposure to high heat index during the summer months.

  •   Adjusting dies, chrome rolls, and trim presses.
  •   Working with maintaining feed system flow.
  •   Relieving packers for breaks.
