Job Description

As posted by the hiring company

Job Overview:

A steel fabrication and processing facility in Harmarville is hiring Machine Operators across both 1st and 2nd shift. This is hands-on, physical, mechanical work — operating a hydraulic steel shear, moving steel sheets by hand, crane, or magnet, and running a forklift on the production floor. No shear or steel experience needed — we'll train you from day one. It's a direct hire position, not temp-to-hire, with a clear path to earn more as you go.

Schedule & pay:

  • **1st Shift: **Monday–Thursday 4:00 AM–2:30 PM (30-minute lunch); Friday 4:00 AM–12:00 PM, paid at time and a half, no lunch — $18.50/hour
  • **2nd Shift: **Monday–Thursday 2:30 PM–1:00 AM (30-minute lunch); Friday 8:00 AM–4:00 PM, paid at time and a half, no lunch — $19.50/hour
  • On 2nd shift, when you work the Friday 8 AM shift, your Thursday shift ends early at 11:00 PM instead of 1:00 AM
  • Some Fridays off entirely on either shift
  • No Saturday or Sunday work
  • Overtime opportunity available — a real way to increase your take-home now, on top of base pay
  • $0.50/hour bump after your 60–90 day probation period, plus annual raises and bonuses (with potential for more frequent bonuses down the line)

Both shifts run on a similar rhythm — a steady Monday–Thursday schedule with a shorter, different Friday. It takes a minute to get used to, but once you're in the groove it's a solid, predictable routine four nights (or days) a week.

What you'll do:

  • Set up and operate a hydraulic steel shear
  • Move steel sheets to machines by hand, crane, or magnet — this is physical work, on your feet, for a full shift
  • Inspect finished sheets and strips using precision measuring tools
  • Package finished materials with air-powered banding tools
  • Move raw and finished steel using a forklift
  • Record production, print tags, and follow work orders using basic computer/calculator skills

What we're looking for:

  • Reliable, consistent attendance — this is a steady, predictable schedule with real long-term potential, and it's best suited to someone ready to settle in for the long haul
  • Comfortable with physically demanding, hands-on work in a fast-paced production environment
  • No experience necessary — we're looking for the right attitude and willingness to learn, not a resume full of machine time. That said, if you've worked in a warehouse, manufacturing plant, or other production environment, we want to hear about it — that background is a real plus, even if it's not on a shear specifically
  • Basic math, reading, and measuring skills
  • Comfortable working independently with minimal supervision
  • Team-oriented, willing to pitch in where needed

Benefits (start upon hire):

  • Health, dental, and vision insurance
  • PTO accrual
  • 401(k) retirement plan

There's also room to grow — depending on performance and interest, operators may get the chance to cross-train on other equipment or help out with shipping and receiving.

Apply today.

Benefits:

  • 401(k) matching
  • Dental insurance
  • Health insurance
  • Paid time off
  • Vision insurance
