SUMMARY
The Manual Heat Set Operator is responsible for executing the manual heat setting process for production parts. This includes loading and unloading rods, applying pressure using a manual press, managing oven cycles, and performing hardness checks. The operator is also responsible for maintaining accurate logs, labeling, and general housekeeping. This role requires physical endurance, the ability to work in elevated temperatures, and strong attention to quality and safety standards.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Load and unload parts from rods for the heat set process.
- Apply pressure to rods using a manual press before oven treatment.
- Set and monitor oven temperature and time parameters in accordance with PLEX instructions.
- Record Rockwell hardness results for parts removed from rods and ensure conformance to specifications.
- Complete all required oven and production log entries accurately.
- Relocate finished product with proper identification labels to designated storage or staging areas.
- Perform general housekeeping tasks to maintain a clean and organized work area.
- Follow safety guidelines and communicate effectively with team members and leadership.
- Operate within a loud, high-heat environment and physically manage heavy materials throughout the shift.
- Use a hammer to secure or adjust materials and equipment as needed.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
- Proven experience in training and development, preferably within a manufacturing or industrial environment.
- High school diploma or GED required; additional training certifications or coursework preferred.
- Strong understanding of adult learning principles and instructional design methodologies.
- Familiarity with manufacturing safety protocols and regulatory compliance standards.
TECHNICAL SKILLS & ABILITIES
- Proficient in computer use for shipping and documentation purposes.
