Summary
Under the direction of the Fabrication Supervisor, the Machine Operator is responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining a machine during the production cycle.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Operates and control machine settings
- Effectively uses overhead cranes to lift steel onto machine
- Feeds material through the machine, creating specific cuts/holes into the columns and/or beams
- Identifies and loads correct electronic data, AutoCAD files and machine programs to complete the setup for each job.
- Examines work and check defects regularly
- Completes and maintains any required paperwork, records and documents
- Checks work area for hazards
- Complies with safety regulations and wears appropriate PPE at all times
- Leaves work area in a clean/safe state when shift is complete
Qualifications: Education and/or Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent required; or demonstrated extensive welding experience
- 1-2 years of machine operating experience preferred
- Prior CNC programming experience is a plus
