Description
Job Summary:
The Machine Operator is responsible for the operation of specialty machinery to manufacture, fabricate, assemble or move products. They are also responsible for inspecting parts to specifications and making adjustments, or changes as necessary to maintain quality specifications.
JOB FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Cleans machines to ensure proper functioning
- Feeds material or part into non-complex semi-automated and automated machines
- Aligns the material or part on the proper position
- Checks machines to ensure they are working properly
- Cross trains on other machines as needed
- Prepares processed items and works with other team members to ensure completing of products
- Performs quality checks of products and machines; removes incorrectly assembled items from rotation
- Fixes and/or discards rejected items
- Counts number of items processed to ensure accuracy and proper project completion
- Folds merchandise when needed
- Assists material handlers and peers as needed
- Works in other departments and on other projects when needed
- Ensures cleanliness of work area; disposes of leftover materials
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
- High School diploma or equivalent preferred
- Prior experience operating machinery and/or as a machine operator
- Prior experience with tools and machinery
- Nonprofit experience a plus
SKILLS/ABILITIES:
- Ability to follow verbal and written instructions
- Ability to work both independently and effectively in teams
- Ability to operate automated and semi-automated machines
- Ability to perform repetitive tasks for several hours a day
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Must be able to work a 40 hours a week with overtime as required
- Must be able to sit for prolonged periods of time
- Must be able to lift 5-10 pounds
- Must be able to conduct repetitive motions on a daily basis
