It also houses R&D teams focused on photonics, lasers, and semiconductor technologies, along with rigorous testing, quality assurance, and metrology capabilities.

 

Shift:  7:00 AM – 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday

 

The Role

You will be responsible for effectively operating and organizing assigned growth and fabrication processes and analytical equipment to meet all growth schedules. This role requires adherence to established procedures, work instructions, safety protocols, and accepted practices while supporting fabrication operations, equipment maintenance, data collection, and process monitoring.

The successful candidate will work in a laboratory and production environment and will be expected to maintain a strong focus on safety, quality, equipment performance, and adherence to established processes.

 

What You Will Be Doing

  • Effectively operate and organize assigned growth and fabrication processes and analytical equipment to meet all growth schedules.
  • Follow established procedures, work instructions, safety protocols, and accepted practices when performing basic maintenance of fabrication equipment.
  • Effectively record, process, and report test data for internal and external customer evaluation.
  • Consistently adhere to Lock Out/Tag Out (LOTO) procedures when troubleshooting and performing maintenance on systems and equipment.
  • Observe, identify, and report process and equipment deviations in a timely manner.
  • Maintain a strong commitment to site and corporate safety requirements.
  • Support applicable quality and environmental management system requirements associated with the role.

About You

Education & Experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Vocational, trade school, or technical certificate preferred.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in a manufacturing environment.

Skills & Other Requirements

  • Basic understanding of computer equipment, common instruments, laboratory equipment, and mechanical tools.
  • Ability to analyze and troubleshoot basic equipment and process issues.
  • Ability to accurately record and communicate technical information and test results.
  • Ability to follow detailed procedures, work instructions, and safety protocols.
  • Due to ITAR compliance, this position requires a U.S. citizen, permanent resident alien, or protected individual per 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3).

Working Conditions

  • Works with hand and power tools in laboratory and production environments.
  • Works with high-temperature and high-voltage equipment and may be exposed to X-ray, microwave, and laser radiation.
  • Exposure to concentrated acids and chemicals.
  • Occasional exposure to dust, fumes, heat, noise, and cold.
  • Occasional travel may be required.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to sit, stand, and/or walk for 3+ hours at a time.
  • Requires regular bending, stooping, and reaching.
  • Ability to lift, push, pull, and carry up to 50 pounds.

Safety Requirements

All employees are required to follow site EHS procedures and COHERENT Corporate EHS standards.

This position may require a pre-employment physical and ongoing medical testing.

Depending on location, this position may be responsible for the execution and maintenance of ISO 9000, ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and/or other applicable standards that apply to the relevant roles and responsibilities within the Quality Management System and Environmental Management System.
