Description
Works under general supervision, operates a variety of CNC Lathes, and helps with tooling and set ups as needed. Follow standard work methods and practice safe work habits to ensure production is as efficient, high-quality and as safe as possible.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Properly starts and shutdowns Morei-Seiki CNC lathes, Noura CNC lathe, and Okuma CNC lathe.
- Loads and operates LNS and Edge automatic bar feeder.
- Measures and changes bar stock to perform task assigned.
- Performs daily housekeeping and maintenance functions.
- Monitors machine operation for quality.
- Performs tool insert changes.
- Performs tool offsets to maintain part integrity.
- Immediately reports all suspicious and hazardous conditions to a supervisor.
- Understands and observes all safety guidelines and assure quality and safety by complying with all appropriate CBI policies and procedures.
- Assist in maintaining clean, orderly and hazard-free work areas.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to demonstrate the following competencies:
- Basic machine shop math.
- Able to work with minimal supervision, be a self-starter and be detail oriented.
- Ability to write and read English.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
- High school diploma or general education degree (G.E.D.) required.
- Minimum of 5 years of CNC machinist or equivalent experience required.

- Light physical effort equal to frequent lifting or moving of lightweight materials. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
- Use of hand/fingers continuously through shift to manipulate components, tools, etc.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
- Regularly required to sit or stand for the length of shift, bend and reach.
- Able to hear typical verbal instructions and common mechanical noises indicative of safe practices.
PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT:
- The use of Safety Glasses may be required.
- The use of Latex or Nitrile gloves may be required.
- Other Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) may be required.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
- Works in a shop environment. Exposure to typical shop chemicals such as paint, paint thinners, acetone, MEK, Isopropyl Alcohol and other similarly related items.
- May work at different workstations as production needs require, or shifts from one station to another, during the assembly process.
- Works in safe environments that may have varying levels of sound, light and odors, appropriate and typical with manufacturing environments.
