Description
Job Summary
The Machine Operator is responsible for operating and maintaining fabrication equipment to produce high-quality parts and components according to customer specifications. This role involves reading blueprints, setting up equipment, monitoring production, and ensuring all work meets safety and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operate metal fabrication equipment (presses, lathes, cutters, etc.).
- Set up machines according to job specifications, including selecting tools, adjusting settings, and verifying material dimensions.
- Read and interpret blueprints, work orders, and technical drawings.
- Inspect finished parts to ensure they meet quality and dimensional standards.
- Perform routine maintenance and cleaning of machines and work areas.
- Report any mechanical issues, safety hazards, or material shortages to supervisors.
- Follow all company safety policies and standard operating procedures.
- Crosstrain on various machines in the department and plant
- Assist with material handling, loading/unloading, and packaging as needed.
- Operate forklifts, stand-up lifts, and overhead cranes.
Qualifications
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Previous experience in a manufacturing or metal fabrication environment preferred.
- Basic competency with power hand-tools (drill, grinder, bench, grinder, etc.)
- Basic understanding of mechanical operations and measuring tools (calipers, micrometers, etc.).
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to workplace safety.
- Ability to lift up to 60 lbs. and stand for extended periods.
Work Environment:
- Manufacturing floor environment is well-lit and climate-controlled with exposure to noise, dust, welding, and moving equipment.
- Personal protective equipment (PPE) required (safety glasses, gloves, hearing protection, etc.).
