Located in Minonk, Illinois, SMF (an Etnyre International Company) is a full-service metal manufacturing facility that specializes in heavy and light fabrication for original equipment manufacturers (OEMs). BASIC FUNCTION:

Under moderate supervision, operates a variety of machines such as lathes, drill presses, milling machines, grinders, or special purpose equipment to machine metal work pieces to specification on a production basis.

MAJOR DUTIES:

• Sets up and operates CNC cutting and fabricating machines to blueprint and work order specifications using pre-loaded programs

• Prepares and loads raw steel sheet or tube onto machine tables using overhead crane and other lifting devices.

• Prepares test runs to check if the machines produce outputs according to specifications

• Sets machines to complete full cycles to cut or form large lots of parts

• Supervises machines while running and adjusts as needed to produce better results

• Inspects and measures finished products to ensure quality specifications are achieved

• Checks and maintains machinery daily to ensure functionality

• Trains others in processes within assigned areas as needed

• Performs other duties as assigned by VSM or VSL for work area.

 

Qualifications


QUALIFICATIONS & PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

• Skilled Machine Operator capable of proficiently running 1st cut machines required for Class B qualification

• Technical course certification or equivalent on the job experience.

• Demonstrated safe overhead crane operation

• Ability to recognize machine malfunctions, troubleshoot, and initiate corrective action.

• Ability to read and interpret blueprints

• Mechanical aptitude and good math skills with a keen eye for detail and a results-driven approach

• Demonstrated communication skills with the ability to train incoming new members and transfers

• Periodically manually lift up to 50 lbs, stand for long periods of time
