Job Overview:
JOB SUMMARY/OBJECTIVE: The Machine Operator 1 performs entry-level machine operation and assembly activities in support of manufacturing operations. This position operates assigned production equipment following established work instructions, drawings, specifications, and safety requirements and assists with general assembly activities as production needs require. This position works under regular supervision and is expected to develop proficiency in assigned equipment, manufacturing processes, quality requirements, and safe work practices.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Operate assigned production machinery and equipment following established procedures and work instructions.
- Load, position, and remove materials and workpieces safely and accurately.
- Perform basic machine operations under established settings and parameters.
- Read and follow work instructions, routers, drawings, and other production documentation appropriate to the position.
- Perform basic measurements and visual inspections to verify product conformity.
- Identify obvious equipment, material, or quality problems and notify the appropriate Lead or Supervisor.
- Perform routine equipment cleaning and basic operator-level maintenance as assigned.
- Maintain accurate production and quality records.
- Participate in mechanical and/or electromechanical assembly activities as production needs require.
- Use basic hand tools, power tools, and measuring equipment safely and correctly.
- Maintain an organized and safe work area.
- Follow all company safety, quality, environmental, and manufacturing procedures.
- Participate in required training and cross-training activities.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS:
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
- Basic mechanical aptitude.
- Ability to safely operate manufacturing equipment after training.
- Ability to use basic hand and measuring tools.
- Ability to recognize and report abnormal equipment or product conditions.
- Basic ability to read manufacturing documentation and drawings.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a manufacturing team.
- Willingness and ability to perform both machine operation and assembly work based on production requirements.
QUALIFICATIONS - EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Previous manufacturing, machine operation, fabrication, or assembly experience preferred but not required.
- Equivalent combinations of education, training, and experience may be considered.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- This position operates in a manufacturing environment and may required prolonged standing, walking, bending, reaching, and repetitive movement for periods up to 8 hours.
- Requires visual acuity (visual ability to resolve fine detail) and manual dexterity (fine hand and finger movements).
- Must be able to lift at least 10lbs frequently; up to 35lbs occasionally, and heavier weights with assistance.
- Must be able to wear required safety protective equipment including but not limited to safety shoes and glasses.
