The Fabricator sets up and operates a production machine to manufacture stock and custom parts. Fabrication machines may include fiber laser, brake press, saw, tube bender, iron worker, shear or roll former that cut, shape or bend metal plates, sheets, tubes and structures by performing the following duties.
**YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES:
**
**Reads
** job specifications from shop drawings or blueprints to determine machine adjustments and material requirements.
**Sets
**stops or guides to specified length as indicated by scale, rule, jig or template.
**Observes
** machine operation to detect workpiece defects or machine malfunction.
**Measures
** work piece dimensions to determine accuracy of machine operation.
**Stacks
**, marks, and packs finished work pieces.
**Performs
**minor machine maintenance such as oiling machines, dyes, or work pieces.
**Lifts
**objects by hand, or with a power hoist/crane, or forklift.
YOUR QUALIFICATIONS:
One-year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Read and understand shop drawings or prints.
Add, subtract, multiply, and divide numbers in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to perform basic calculations using a calculator.
Read and use tape measure.
Basic computer skills in a windows environment/ERP system.
Physical requirements include: Regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move more than 100 pounds when turning parts over, dependent on the part being handled. Specific vision abilities required by this job include color vision, and ability to adjust focus. Twisting, turning, grasping, reaching, bending, pulling, and extended periods of standing.
The employee in this position must wear OSHA approved safety shoes with metatarsal guards, safety glasses, gloves, hearing protection, and grinding and/or cutting shield when using grinder or power cutters.
