Metal Forming Machine Operator

Location: Tampa, FL

Employment Type: Full-Time

Schedule: 1st or 2nd shift

About the Opportunity

We are seeking a Metal Forming Machine Operator to join our manufacturing team and support the production of precision sheet metal components. This is a great opportunity for someone with basic manufacturing, machine operating, or sheet metal experience who is mechanically inclined and interested in developing their skills in metal forming.

The ideal candidate is dependable, hands-on, detail-oriented, and comfortable working in a production environment. Experience with presses, press brakes, sheet metal fabrication, or similar equipment is helpful, but extensive setup experience is not required. The right candidate should be willing to learn machine operation, tooling, measurements, and basic setups.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operate single-station presses, press brakes, and other metal forming equipment.
  • Load and position sheet metal and other materials into machines.
  • Assist with basic machine and tooling setups.
  • Learn to install, align, and adjust tooling as needed for production.
  • Follow work orders, blueprints, and production instructions.
  • Inspect finished parts to ensure they meet quality requirements.
  • Use basic measuring tools such as calipers and other precision measuring equipment.
  • Make basic machine adjustments to maintain part quality.
  • Identify and report machine, tooling, or production issues.
  • Assist with first-piece and in-process inspections.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
  • Follow company safety and quality procedures.
  • Work with production, quality, tooling, and engineering teams as needed.
  • Support other production duties and assignments as directed.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience in manufacturing, machine operation, sheet metal, metal fabrication, or a similar hands-on environment is preferred.
  • Previous experience with presses, press brakes, forming equipment, or similar machinery is a plus.
  • Entry-level candidates with strong mechanical aptitude and a willingness to learn are encouraged to apply.
  • Ability to read and follow basic blueprints, work orders, and production instructions.
  • Comfortable using calipers and/or willing to learn precision measuring equipment.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing quality parts.
  • Good mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
  • Reliable attendance and a strong work ethic.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced production environment.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods and regularly bend, reach, and move throughout the facility.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.

Training & Development

This position provides an opportunity to learn and develop metal forming and machine setup skills. Candidates do not need to be fully proficient in machine setup on day one. Training will be provided on equipment, tooling, measurements, quality requirements, and production procedures.

Candidates with experience operating other types of manufacturing machinery are encouraged to apply, even if they have not previously worked with metal forming equipment.

Physical Requirements & Work Environment

  • Manufacturing/production environment with regular standing and movement throughout the facility.
  • Regularly required to bend, reach, lift, and handle materials and parts.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Frequent use of near vision for inspecting parts, reading measurements, and reviewing work instructions.
  • Must be able to safely operate manufacturing equipment after appropriate training.
