We are looking for a dependable and safety-focused Slitter Operator to join our manufacturing team in Southington. In this role, you will set up, operate, and maintain metal slitting equipment to produce high-quality steel, aluminum, and stainless steel coils that meet customer specifications. If you have experience operating manufacturing equipment, enjoy working in a fast-paced environment, and take pride in producing quality work, we'd like to hear from you. Must be able to train on 1st shift with flexibilty to move to second shift.
What You'll Do
- Set up and operate metal slitting equipment according to work orders and production schedules.
- Thread material through the slitting line and adjust knives, spacers, guides, and tension settings for accurate processing.
- Monitor machine performance and make adjustments to maintain product quality and production efficiency.
- Inspect finished coils for width, thickness, edge quality, burrs, camber, and surface defects.
- Complete coil changeovers and ensure finished products are properly packaged and labeled.
- Record production data, scrap, downtime, and quality inspection results.
- Perform routine equipment maintenance, cleaning, and lubrication.
- Follow all company safety procedures, including Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) and PPE requirements.
- Maintain a clean, organized work area and support continuous improvement initiatives.
- Work closely with production, quality, maintenance, and shipping teams to meet customer expectations.
What We're Looking For
- High school diploma or GED preferred.
- Two or more years of experience operating metal slitting equipment or similar manufacturing machinery preferred.
- Ability to read work orders, blueprints, and production specifications.
- Experience using tape measures, calipers, micrometers, and other precision measuring tools.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and work in a physically demanding manufacturing environment.
- Strong attention to detail, dependability, and commitment to safety.
Hours
First shift: 6-2:15 M-Th, 6-noon F
2nd shift: 2:15-10:30 M-Th, 12-6 F
