Full-Time Machine Operator

Rockford, IL

The ability to work weekends is necessary.

 What are the responsibilities of a Machine Operator?

• Follows all good manufacturing practices and safety procedures.
• Starts up/or shuts down production machine.
• Performs machine adjustments and checks to ensure correct packaging materials, code dates, material weights, & other checks.
• Changes wrap, lids, sticks, fills, and other packaging material on the machine as needed.
• Adjusts various coding and tape machines on the production line.
• Operates carton packing machine.
• Monitors temperature, various gauges, quality of final product, allergens, material waste, etc.
• Works with the maintenance team to identify mechanical errors on the machine.
• Other duties assigned by supervisor.

What are the Essential Skills and experience needed to be a Machine Operator?

• Ability to monitor several operations at a time.
• Strong attention to detail.
• Hand and wrist movement to grasp, hold, and pack consistently.
• Time management.
• Strong team player: ability to demonstrate various production packer operations.
• Communication skills: ability to communicate with production packers and other plant personnel.             

Nonessential Skills:

• Line Owner/Machine Operator experience is not required but preferred. 

What are the physical demands of the job?

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to be able to work standing for over 8+ hours. Must be able to stoop, kneel, reach, and lift, and must be able to work under these conditions every day. This job requires frequent lifting of supplies and raw materials up to 50 lbs. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. This position requires good corrected hearing.
