Position Summary
The Machine Operator I is responsible for safely operating manufacturing equipment, performing in-process inspections, completing production and quality paperwork, assembling products, and executing final packaging. This role works collaboratively within a team environment to meet production standards and ensure product quality.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Operate various production machines and perform secondary operations under guidance to achieve production and quality goals.
- Set up, adjust, and monitor machines according to Job Order Book and routing instructions.
- Conduct quality inspections and accurately complete all required quality documentation.
- Monitor scrap levels, machine speed, and promptly notify the supervisor of any excessive scrap or issues.
- Assist in training other machine operators and packers as needed.
- Move materials, components, and finished goods pallets to designated areas.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area following Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and food safety guidelines.
- Ensure compliance with all company policies, including quality, environmental, health, and safety procedures, as well as regulatory requirements.
- Complete and maintain accurate production records, machine activity forms, and other necessary paperwork.
- Adhere strictly to Lockout/Tagout (LO/TO) and machine guarding safety protocols.
- Report any food safety concerns immediately and uphold all SQF requirements.

Qualifications and Requirements
- Excellent hand-eye coordination and mechanical aptitude.
- Ability to lift and handle up to 50 lbs regularly.
- Strong basic math, reading, and English communication skills.
- Ability to adapt to changing operational conditions and work effectively within a team.
- Familiarity with forming machines and basic machine operation per on-the-job training requirements.
- Must be willing to work overtime as required.

Work Environment
- Primarily works in a climate-controlled indoor environment with minimal health hazards.

Physical Demands
- Regularly stands, walks, uses hands/fingers to handle or feel, and reaches with hands and arms.
- Frequently talks and hears in a manufacturing setting.
- Occasionally lifts or moves up to 20 lbs, with periodic lifting up to 50 lbs.
