We are seeking a Lapper I (Precision Finishing Technician) to join the finishing team. The lapper is responsible for creating extremely smooth and flat finishes on metal components that are used in high-precision sealing applications. This role is ideal for mechanically inclined individuals with 1+ year of manufacturing experience, strong attention to detail, and an interest in growing within a stable, technical career path.
Perform lapping, polishing, washing, inspecting, cleaning, and packing of precision seal components.
Achieve high levels of flatness and surface finish tolerances as specified by engineering drawings.
Conduct visual inspections of parts for accuracy, flatness, and finish quality.
Utilize micrometers, calipers, gauges, and other precision measurement tools to verify parts.
Follow quality procedures and document work accurately.
Maintain machine tools and ensure a clean, organized work area.
Participate in Continuous Improvement and 5S initiatives.
1+ year of experience in a manufacturing, machining, assembly, or finishing environment.
Strong mechanical aptitude – comfortable using hand tools and measuring devices.
Ability to read and interpret blueprints (training available for those with basic skills).
Excellent attention to detail and ability to focus on precision work.
Reliable, motivated, and eager to learn new technical skills.
High School Diploma or GED required.
Experience with polishing, lapping, or precision finishing.
Familiarity with ultrasonic cleaning units, bead blasting, or laser equipment.
Exposure to CNC machining or GD&T.
