  • Work with cutting tools such as drills, taps, and related machining tools.
  • Monitor cutting-tool performance and identify wear, damage, breakage, or other tooling problems.
  • Troubleshoot cutting-tool and machine-performance issues.
  • Make machine and tooling adjustments to maintain dimensional accuracy and part quality.
  • Calculate hole locations, centerlines, and other dimensions needed to make proper machine adjustments.
  • Read and follow blueprints, setup sheets, work instructions, and quality procedures.
  • Perform first-piece and continuous in-process inspections.
  • Use calipers, micrometers, thread gauges, comparators, and other precision measuring equipment.
  • Change tooling as required during production runs.
  • Load and unload raw materials and completed parts.
  • Remove burrs, chips, and sharp edges from finished components.
  • Complete production and quality documentation using computer-based systems.
  • Perform basic machine maintenance and maintain proper fluid levels.
  • Keep machines, tools, and work areas clean and organized.
  • Deliver completed parts for final quality inspection.
  • Report machine, tooling, hydraulic, or quality concerns to supervision.

Qualifications

  • Previous machine operation, machining, or precision manufacturing experience required.
  • General understanding of machining processes and metal-cutting operations.
  • Knowledge of cutting tools such as drills and taps.
  • Experience installing, changing, or adjusting machine tooling.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting ability.
  • Ability to identify and correct cutting-tool or part-quality problems.
  • Ability to perform shop math involving decimals, fractions, centerlines, and hole-location calculations.
  • Ability to read blueprints, setup sheets, and written work instructions.
  • Experience using calipers, micrometers, thread gauges, comparators, or similar inspection tools.
  • Ability to make machine adjustments to maintain required tolerances.
  • Comfortable using computers for production and quality documentation.
  • Dependable attendance, strong attention to detail, and a safety-focused attitude.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a manufacturing team.

Preferred Experience

  • Experience operating custom or specialized production machinery OR CNC
  • Knowledge of hydraulic systems, hydraulic motors, or hydraulically operated equipment.
  • Experience troubleshooting cutting-tool wear, breakage, alignment, or hole-quality problems.
  • Background in machining, drilling, tapping, screw machining, CNC machining, or other close-tolerance metalworking operations.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand for up to six hours during a shift.
  • Ability to regularly lift up to 35 pounds and occasionally lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to perform repetitive hand movements and machine adjustments.
  • Ability to walk throughout the production facility.
  • Ability to visually identify tooling, surface, and dimensional defects.
