Position Summary
Sets up, operates, and produces coated products using an air knife coater in a safe manner, following specifications, and ensuring quality products produced on time.
Primary Responsibilities / Essential Functions
Reviews and observes all safety rules when operating the air knife coater.
Sets up, runs, and monitors the coater while ensuring processing parameters are controlled and well documented.
Regulates, operates, and adjusts equipment and controls to produce products in accordance with manufacturing and customer specifications and quality standards. Verifies output for coat weight and other technical standards. Works with the Quality Assurance department to verify product quality.
Checks data on adhesive batches to verify that they are within specification limits,
Verifies raw stock is the correct stock for the job and that the correct adhesive is applied.
Confirms the sheet is free of air knife marks, welts and wrinkles, and other defects.
Complete job record paperwork and ensures paperwork is complete and accurate per cGMP and quality system requirements.
Perform housekeeping duties according to established 5S standards. Maintains and continuously improves department organization to promote a safe and organized work area.
Supports continuous improvement activities through the use of Lean Manufacturing techniques. Offers suggestions and helps to implement waste reduction activities.
Additional Essential Duties and Responsibilities (Senior):
Works with the Production Manager to ensure the best possible scheduling of coating jobs to minimize setup time and ensure customer promised ship dates are met.
Works with the Production Manager to develop work instructions and best practices for the coating department.
Trains operators on operational procedures and quality requirements. Trains and mentors other operators on effective work habits, time-management and other key skills
Ensure standard methods are documented in training materials and consistent methods are applied across both shifts.
Assists other operators with difficult jobs and will assist as needed to maintain production schedules.
Assists with customer quality system audits to answer questions about the coating process.
Works with management to analyze MOS data and provide suggestions to minimize downtime.
Works with the Manufacturing Manager to set department goals and provides leadership and direction to achieve the goals.
Drive continuous improvement by identifying current and potential process and equipment problems and developing and implementing corrective and preventive actions, eliminating waste and improving operational performance.
Active participant with Process Engineering and Technical to complete validations. Makes recommendations for machine settings to achieve product requirements.

Basic Qualifications
High School Diploma or GED required.
Minimum of 3 years of experience in an industrial manufacturing environment operating complex manufacturing equipment.
Strong attention to detail and accurate documentation practices required.
Mechanical aptitude.
Additional Qualifications (Senior)
All the Level I Qualifications
Requires an excellent understanding of cGMP requirements and the Oliver-Tolas Quality System.
Thorough understanding of air knife coating.
Expert at operating coater 1 and coater 2.
Ability to train other operators on coater 1 and coater 2.
Good mechanical aptitude and basic troubleshooting skills
Basic computer skills including MS Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)
