Job Overview:

Upright Technician

Sets up, operates, and maintains presses and rolling lines to cut, form, and shape metal into precision parts. Reads blueprints, monitors equipment, performs quality inspections, and ensures safety compliance in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Core Responsibilities

  • Operate, adjust, calibrate, and maintain the Upright Line rolling line and lower duty line
  • Set up and run metalworking and forming machines per production specifications
  • Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and work orders
  • Perform quality checks using precision measuring tools and gauges
  • Conduct product assembly, packaging, and material handling
  • Operate PC-based systems for data entry and production guidance
  • Perform preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and minor equipment repairs
  • Execute welding tasks when authorized and certified to do so
  • Maintain required documentation, inventory records, and production logs
  • Operate hand tools, mechanized tools, and material handling equipment (including trolleys)
  • Keep work area clean and organized using manual and mechanized means

Compliance & Accountability

  • Follow all work and technological procedures, including IMS and OHS standards
  • Adhere to metrological care principles and proper handling of materials, products, machines, and tools
  • Manage non-conforming products per established protocols
  • Maintain accurate documentation and records
  • Support energy efficiency practices at the assigned workstation, machine, and equipment
  • Perform additional tasks as directed by supervisor in support of operational needs

Qualifications

  • Education: High school diploma or GED required; vocational or technical training a plus
  • Experience: Previous experience with stamping presses, roll forming, and manufacturing operations
  • Technical Skills: Ability to read blueprints and technical drawings; strong mechanical aptitude; proficiency with precision measuring tools
  • Physical Requirements: Ability to stand for extended periods, lift moderate loads, and work in a production floor environment
  • Soft Skills: Detail-oriented, strong problem-solving ability, collaborative team player
