The Machine Builder III is responsible for assembling, line up, debugging and installing entire machines and/or systems to meet customer requirements.


ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES:

  • Organize, plan and execute all phases of machine construction.
  • Assemble all aspects of a machine or multi-system from drawings and/or verbal instructions.
  • Record changes to machine parts and assemblies on engineering drawings following our current Redline procedures.
  • Debug entire machine, with engineering as necessary.
  • Adjust cam timing, rotary positions (i.e., indexing units) as necessary.
  • Provide direction to junior builders/ builders.
  • Fabricate critical machine components as required.
  • Interface with electrical personnel concerning electrical and programming issues.
  • Use knowledge of pneumatic functions, devices and fittings, to achieve desired results.
  • Line-up stations and adjust cam timing, rotary positions (i.e., indexing units) as necessary.
  • Fill in commissioning binders, organize all prints for job including responsibility for job carts some white board content.
  • Perform machine parts and assembly modifications as required, interfacing with engineering when changes are major or of a critical nature.
  • Use knowledge of Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) requirements for machine safety devices and guards.
  • Interface with customer when necessary.
  • Install and service machines at customer’s site as required.
  • Maintain a safe working environment and follow safe working practices.
  • Keep the work area clean.
  • Maintain tools and equipment in a safe, clean and orderly fashion.
  • Follow work instructions and maintain checklists.
  • Maintain departmental goals in keeping with company objectives.
  • Recommend improvements in order to facilitate company growth.
  • Domestic and/or international travel required.
  • Adhere to all International Standardization Organization (ISO) standards.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School or trade school.
  • One to two (1-2) years’ related experience.
  • Minimal experience in machine assembly.
  • Journeyman toolmaker or equivalent skills.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude.
  • Good interpersonal skills.
  • Must be knowledgeable in the proper use and selection of tools and equipment, for example:
  • Inspection and measurement tools such as Vernier, caliper, and scales, etc.
  • Hand tools such as a variety of wrenches, pliers, saws, power drills, etc.
  • Machinery such as milling machines, surface grinders, lathes, etc.


JOB SPECIFICATIONS:

  • The employee may be required to stand, walk, push, pull, reach overhead, and bend to the floor.
  • Exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or exert up to 10 pounds of force frequently.
  • Visual acuity – Normal requirements for reading written instructions and computer screens.
  • Hearing ability – Normal requirements for understanding verbal instructions.
  • Working conditions –The employee is subject to a manufacturing environment with occasional exposure to high noise levels and exposure to physical hazards such as proximity to moving mechanical parts and electrical current.
  • Capable of wearing appropriate related PPE for extended periods of time.
