POSITION OVERVIEW

The purpose of the Machine Builder III is to build and set-up custom manufacturing equipment while leading a team of contracted Machine Builders.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

  • Resolve engineering documentation issues during the machine building process.
  • Manage teams of apprentice and/or contract Machine Builders while working on equipment and line installs.
  • Manage the set-up and tuning of equipment for production launch while working closely with other support groups.
  • Mentoring other Machine Builders towards best practices and standards of building and installing equipment.
  • Perform mechanical assembly of custom manufacturing equipment.
  • Perform field installation of all controls, plumbing, pneumatic and hydraulic systems.
  • Ensure process equipment performs as specified by Engineering teams prior to release for production.
  • Support engineering staff in development of new processes.
  • Generate and communicate continuous improvement ideas for current and new processes.
  • Perform modifications and field fit fabrications.
  • Create and maintain project documentation to capture all issues, corrective actions and equipment modifications.
  • Assist during equipment audits to ensure quality.
  • Partnering with Engineering teams and other Machine Builders to create and improve methods and standards of equipment build from conception to launch.
  • Other duties as assigned.

WHAT TO BRING

  • Journey Worker and/or AAS degree.
  • 5-7 years of building machines, electrical controls, and fabrication experience.
  • At least 5 years of experience troubleshooting electromechanical issues and mechanical assembly.
  • Experience reading/interpreting mechanical, electrical, pneumatic and assembly prints. Must be available to work overtime as needed.

Meet the Following Physical Demands:

  • High level of hand dexterity/coordination.
  • Ability to stand, remain stationary, and/or move about for 8 hours.
  • Ability to ascend ladders and traverse multiple building floors and areas.
  • Ability to regularly lift and carry up to 30 lbs.
  • Bending, reaching, squatting, or otherwise positioning body around equipment of varying heights.

WHAT WILL HELP

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • Proficiency in SolidWorks and AutoCAD.
  • Experience teaching and/or training others on electrical systems, code and safety systems.
