Our client is seeking an experienced Machine Builder to assemble, troubleshoot, and install custom automated machinery and equipment. This individual will work from engineering drawings, mechanical prints, and bills of materials to build precision equipment used in industrial manufacturing environments.
The ideal candidate has strong mechanical aptitude, enjoys hands-on work, and takes pride in building high-quality equipment from the ground up.
Responsibilities
- Assemble custom machinery and automated equipment according to engineering drawings and specifications.
- Read and interpret mechanical assembly drawings, blueprints, and bills of materials.
- Install mechanical components including bearings, shafts, gearboxes, conveyors, pneumatics, and hydraulic systems.
- Perform machine alignments, adjustments, and final mechanical fit-up.
- Assist with troubleshooting and resolving mechanical assembly issues.
- Work closely with Engineering, Controls, and Electrical teams during machine builds.
- Support machine testing, startup, and debugging.
- Ensure equipment meets quality and safety standards prior to shipment.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area.
- Follow all company safety procedures.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required; technical training is a plus.
- 3+ years of machine building, industrial assembly, maintenance, or related mechanical experience.
- Ability to read and interpret mechanical blueprints and assembly drawings.
- Experience with pneumatic and hydraulic systems.
- Strong mechanical troubleshooting skills.
- Proficient using hand tools, power tools, and precision measuring instruments.
- Ability to safely operate overhead cranes and forklifts (or willingness to become certified).
- Strong attention to detail and craftsmanship.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and stand for extended periods.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience building custom automation equipment or special machines.
- Welding or fabrication experience is a plus.
- Basic electrical knowledge and ability to work alongside controls technicians.
- Experience in a manufacturing or OEM machine-building environment.
