A long-established and rapidly expanding industrial equipment and infrastructure manufacturer in the northwest Chicago suburbs is launching a major hiring initiative and is actively seeking to bring on a large number of Machine Builders and Enclosure Builders over the coming months. The company has recently secured several significant projects and is expanding operations to keep pace with demand.
Because of this growth, leadership is aggressively scaling their manufacturing workforce, creating a strong opportunity for skilled builders and fabricators looking for steady work, overtime potential, and the chance to join a company with a long track record of success.
The organization designs and manufactures large-scale industrial machinery, infrastructure systems, and enclosures used in critical environments such as data centers and industrial processing facilities. Rather than repetitive production work, employees are involved in hands-on builds of large mechanical systems and assemblies, working closely with engineering and manufacturing teams.
Machine Builders will assemble industrial automated machinery and complex mechanical systems from detailed engineering drawings and specifications. This role plays a key part in bringing custom-built equipment from design to operational machinery.
Assemble industrial automated machines and mechanical subassemblies using hand and power tools
Read and interpret engineering drawings, mechanical prints, and shop orders
Install and align components such as frames, drive systems, motors, shafts, bearings, and guarding
Integrate pneumatics, sensors, and other mechanical components
Perform operational testing, troubleshooting, and final mechanical adjustments
Verify tolerances using precision measuring tools such as calipers and micrometers
Assist with equipment movement, rigging, and occasional shipping support
Work closely with engineering and production teams to resolve build challenges
3–5+ years of machine building, industrial assembly, or mechanical equipment assembly
Strong ability to read mechanical drawings and engineering prints
Experience with motors, shafts, bearings, pneumatics, hydraulics, and mechanical assemblies
Skilled with hand tools and precision measuring instruments
Forklift or crane experience is a plus
OEM or custom machinery manufacturing experience preferred
Enclosure Builders will focus on the fabrication and welding of large industrial enclosures and structural components used in infrastructure and equipment systems. This position combines fabrication, welding, layout, and assembly work in a project-driven environment.
Fabricate and assemble steel and sheet metal enclosures from mechanical blueprints
Perform MIG welding on structural and sheet metal components
Measure, cut, fit, and align materials to meet dimensional tolerances
Operate fabrication tools including saws, grinders, drills, and other shop equipment
Ensure structural integrity and quality of welded assemblies
Assist with positioning large components using cranes or lifting equipment
3–5+ years of welding or fabrication experience
Ability to read and interpret fabrication blueprints
Experience with MIG welding in fabrication environments
Skilled with measurement tools such as tape measures, calipers, and micrometers
TIG welding experience is a plus but not required
Experience building large assemblies or industrial equipment preferred
Large hiring initiative — the company plans to add a significant number of builders and fabricators throughout the year
Long-established manufacturer with over 100 years of industry history
Rapid growth driven by major infrastructure and technology sector projects
Opportunity to work on large, complex builds instead of repetitive production
Consistent overtime available for those seeking higher earnings
