Position Overview
A leading consumer products manufacturer is seeking a skilled Machine Builder to add to our growing team! The Machine Builder will support capital projects, equipment upgrades, machine relocations, production improvements, and major rebuild initiatives.
Responsibilities & Duties
- Disassemble, inspect, rebuild, and reassemble high-speed manufacturing machines and related converting equipment.
- Replace and repair worn machine components including bearings, shafts, gears, sprockets, chains, belts, rollers, bushings, pulleys, and drive systems.
- Perform machine overhauls, refurbishments, modifications, and equipment upgrades.
- Read and interpret mechanical drawings, assembly prints, equipment manuals, and technical documentation.
- Inspect machine components for wear, damage, and failure points and recommend corrective actions.
- Perform precision measurements using calipers, micrometers, dial indicators, and other measuring instruments.
- Troubleshoot mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and production-related equipment issues.
- Install, repair, and maintain pneumatic systems, air cylinders, vacuum systems, and machine controls associated with production equipment.
- Support machine changeovers, tooling installations, and product-size conversions.
- Conduct machine testing and operational runoffs following rebuilds and modifications.
- Assist with machinery installation, startup, and commissioning activities within manufacturing facilities.
- Safely operate forklifts, cranes, hoists, lifts, power tools, and machine shop equipment.
- Maintain clean and organized work areas utilizing 5S principles.
- Follow all company safety policies, lockout/tagout procedures, and manufacturing standards.
Minimum Requirements
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required.
- Minimum 5 years of machine building, equipment assembly, industrial maintenance, or related manufacturing experience preferred.
- Experience assembling automated machinery, mechanical presses, production equipment, or custom machinery preferred.
- Ability to read and interpret mechanical blueprints.
- Must be able to travel 25% of the time.
