Machine Assembly Technician (Mechanical)

Schedule: Monday–Friday, 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM (Overtime as needed)
Travel: Occasional travel required (installation, training, service work)
Job Description
We are seeking a skilled Machine Assembly Technician (Mechanical) to build, debug, and test custom workstations and automated equipment. This role involves working from engineering drawings, schematics, and other technical documentation to assemble complex machinery.
The ideal candidate is hands-on, mechanically inclined, and capable of working independently or as part of a team. This position requires attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and a commitment to quality, safety, and efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
- Assemble machine components using engineering drawings and technical documentation
- Build, test, and debug custom workstations and automated equipment
- Fabricate and modify parts as needed during the assembly process
- Integrate feed systems and automation components into assemblies
- Troubleshoot and resolve mechanical issues during build and testing
- Communicate technical issues to team leads in a timely manner
- Support team members to maximize productivity and quality
- Participate in job reviews and document changes on prints
- Maintain and clean fabrication equipment and work areas
- Follow company policies, safety procedures, and quality standards
- Participate in continuous improvement and Lean initiatives
- Train customers on equipment operation when required
Qualifications & Requirements
- Strong understanding of mechanical assembly, fits, and tolerances
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and schematics
- Experience with pneumatic systems (layout, assembly, troubleshooting)
- Basic knowledge of control systems and vision systems
- Ability to operate fabrication equipment (drill press, mill, lathe, rotary table, sheet metal tools)
- Ability to machine parts to ± .003” tolerance and properly size holes using reamers/hones
- Skilled in using hand tools and assembly equipment
- Welding experience preferred
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment
- Basic math skills
- Ability to operate forklifts and manlifts (or willingness to learn)
- Valid driver’s license and ability to travel as needed
Physical Requirements
- Regular use of hands for assembly and tool operation
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, and reach throughout the day
- Ability to lift 25 lbs regularly and up to 100 lbs occasionally
- Good vision and hand-eye coordination
Preferred Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Toolmaker or machining background
