2nd Shift M-F 3:30p-12am

Starting Pay $18 plus shift differential 

Principal Objective of Position:                                                                                                     

The Material Handler is responsible for maintaining the handling and flow of materials and products in processing areas according to established guidelines. This position records movement of incoming and outgoing materials and supplies and verifies the accuracy of work performed.  Additionally, this position can perform the duties associated with at least one of the following advanced warehousing roles: load planning and processing of shipments, receiving, and transportation coordination.

  • Safely and efficiently operate a forklift and/or overhead crane.
  • Perform daily forklift and overhead crane inspections to ensure equipment is in good working order.
  • Ensure correct products are being loaded and unloaded by matching order numbers to printed tags.
  • Receive and inspect incoming material from suppliers.
  • Move material to and from processing centers and warehouse locations per established material handling guidelines.
  • Inspect and load material for shipping to customers.
  • Labels and packages finished products.
  • Processes work orders from bills of lading.
  • Perform material movements using RF scanner.
  • Double check parts before shipping.
  • Pick/Put material for production and/or shipments.
  • Empty scrap/trash hoppers including emptying skeleton scrap.
  • Collaborate with other material handlers and Team Lead.
  • Read work orders or receive oral instructions to determine work assignments or materials moving needs.
  • Band material and attach identifying tags.

Other Responsibilities:                                                                                                                    

 

  • Maintain a work area and walkway clean and free of debris.
  • Label and package finished products as needed.
  • Complete necessary paperwork when needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

 

Qualifications


Education and Experience Required:                                                                                           

  • Minimum 1 year prior experience operating warehouse equipment such as forklifts, pallet jacks, overhead cranes, etc.
  • Minimum 1 year prior experience in a warehousing environment as a material handler, warehouse associate, or similar position.

 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:                                                                                  

  • Knowledge, understanding, and demonstrated ability to use basic technology devices such as a computer, tablet, and printer operations.
  • Basic Microsoft office skills (Outlook, Word, Excel).
  • Basic use of software to process work orders.
  • Ability to use a tape measure, micrometer, caliper, and calculator.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
  • Self-motivated and takes responsibility for own work.
  • Ability to manage interruptions and competing demands for time and attention.
  • Ability to perform all duties while meeting safety protocols.
  • Attention to detail and spatial recognition.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with others at various levels within the organization.
  • Certified in Load Securement

 

Preferred Qualifications:                                                                                                                 

 

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Familiarity with RF devices.
  • 1 or more years of experience safely operating a forklift.

 

Work Environment:                                                                                                                          

This position is located primarily in a warehouse environment with some outside work necessary.  Once trained, this person works independently but takes instruction from coworkers and supervisors.  The person in this position must be constantly aware of surroundings and look out for other individuals in the area while operating equipment.
