Low Voltage Technician | Cedar Rapids, IA

Becker Wright Consultants is hiring low voltage technicians to support commercial and data center projects in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. We're looking for hands-on techs who can show up ready to work, from entry-level to fully independent. Multiple positions are open.

Pay: $26-30/hr, based on experience

Schedule:

Location: Cedar Rapids, IA

What you'll do

• Pull cable and terminate jacks
• Install, terminate and test structured cabling: CAT5e, CAT6, CAT6a, fiber optic and coaxial
• Build out MDF and IDF closets, including racks, patch panels, wire management and network hardware

Your scope and level of supervision will depend on your experience.

Requirements

• Able to work on ladders and use power tools
• Able to lift, carry and set up a 50 lb box or ladder
• Own your low voltage hand tools (snips, strippers, screwdrivers, wrenches)
• Able to work 2nd/3rd shift, overtime, and under pressure
• Pass a 7-year background check, drug screen and physical
• Valid driver's license, reliable transportation and insurance
• Professional working proficiency in English
• Commercial construction experience preferred

Experience levels

• Tech 1: No prior low voltage experience required.
• Tech 2: 1+ year of commercial low voltage installation experience. You can terminate a jack, pull cable and work a 90 with limited supervision, and you can build out MDF/IDF closets with supervision.
• Tech 3: 2+ years of commercial low voltage installation experience. You can terminate a jack, pull cable, work a 90, install and test all cabling types, and build out MDF/IDF closets with no supervision.
